Scotch Plains High has been very proud of the twirlers who, at each game, led the band onto the field. Their initiative and skill has added much to half-time programs. We give them a vote of appreciation for their hard work. 1- Jwbzlalm W? 'T 'Ai, ffiifv M I, T iyb ' I , - NU . . These peppy, attractive girls are always seen cheering the athletic teams on to victory. With their primary aim to promote good sportsmanship and cooperation among the student body, the cheerleaders, who are high spirited themselves, have done much to heighten the spirit ofthe crowds. f 2,1 K I 't 1 65 Q in ,bv . tg1L6?,g'l-5, K tl -fly lk 1 5 05 o N fi . ,' Af' yd , V R .ff f' ,J fb f omceks A1 Varsity captain ........ il and A shrill whistle! A drum-beat! And in a flash of Blue and White the band marches onto the fieldl This year under the direction of Mr. Wojnarowski the band was bigger and better than ever. There were more than sixty members who com- bined to make the magnificent half-time performances each Saturday even at away games. They went through all sorts of intricate maneuvers and formed many fascinating figures. But the football sea- OFFICERS President Ted Edwards Vice President Jay Squires Secretary Treasurer Barbara Green son did not end work for Mr. Wojnarowski and the band. They practiced hard for assemblies and their annual spring concert the Night of Music at which they played many favorite songs. Two of the band members Joan Elsener and Dorothy Tutt were also members of the All-State Band. Scotch Plains High is proud of the band and appreciates all it has done to make school life more enjoyable.

The orchestra, under the leadership of Mr. Wojnarowski, also had a busy year. lt was called upon often to take part in special assembly programs, including a beautiful Christmas program, the National Honor Society Assembly, the Easter Assembly, and various others. As a rule teen-age audiences do not like or appreciate classical music, but the orchestra received many fine comments after their various perform- ances. Many new members come into the organization this year, so there were many inexperienced people to deal with, but the Night of Music proved that nothing could stop the orchestra. They played better than ever! President ..... Vice-President ..... Secretary-Treasurer . . . . . .. . Doris Borrow . Joan Elsener Barbara Green ..-...Q--min 60
