And how you tried to make it work Did you really think it could How you tried to make it last Did you really think it would. Like a prisoner who ' s been penned up too long Now it ' s finally time for our escape Yes, it ' s finally time, the world ' s ours to make Leave it behind with smiles and cheers It ' s the famous final Senior Year. 104 {J ' SftlLORS GALLEY) It ' s been coming on so long First as Freshmen, we didn ' t belong Then as Sophomores, rolling along Next we were Juniors, mighty and strong Seems like oh so long ago. Now the football field has all been set And the nights are growing warm. Soon graduation will be here And the end is drawing near It ' s the famous final Senior Year. Now the speeches have all been read And good-byes have all been said Now you move toward the door Here it comes, the hardest part Take the diploma, the end is here It ' s the famous final Senior Year. It will never be the same As the light fades from the sky You look around and try not to cry Then you file out, calm and serene From the famous final scene. CLA98 WILL The long and winding road, will always lead us back to your door. Don ' t let us disappear. Lead us to your door . . . And so we, the class of 1980, leave to you these lyrics from our hearts . . . Dr. John Paul Kulevich — We say, Doc- tor, is there nothing we can take . Minnehan (Compliments of Rudi Mitchell) BASKETBALL CHEERLEADERS CHEER LEADERS DRILL TEAM 145 The 1979 football season is one that Scituations will remember for years to come. The coaches and the players deserve high praise for their perseverance and dedication. Although the boys did not surpass all of their opponents in size or strength, their enthusiasm and skill led them to the O.C.L. championship and the 1979 Superbowl. Coach Johnson feels one of the main reasons for their success can be sum- med up in the following poem: THINKING If you think you are beaten, you are; if you think you dare not you don ' t; if you like to win but think you can ' t, it ' s almost a cinch you won ' t. If you think you ' ll lose, you ' re lost for out in the world we find, success begins with a fellow ' s will; it ' s all in the state of mind. If you think you are outclassed, you are; you ' ve got to think high to rise; you ' ve got to be sure of yourself before you ever win a prize. Life ' s battles do not always go to the stronger or the faster man; but sooner or later the man who wins is the man who thinks he can. Take this, stick it under your shirt and run. 147 MOLLY Colegio Internacional de Carab obo Apartado 103 Valencia, Venezuela February 2, 1980 Hi Guys, You Know, we ' re having a great year; there ' s only one thing amiss ... we miss you. When we left at the end of Aug., our one comforting thought was that we ' d see you at the Senior Dinner Dance in December, but we couldn ' t get a flight home in time. Now we find that our school here in Valencia does not recess in time for us to attend your graduation. We are so disappointed. The one comforting thought is that you ' ve had great leadership this year with Jane, Tracy, Sue, and Kathy and your super sponsors, Ms. Kathy For- tin and Mr. Peter Comrack. From all of the reports we ' ve received down here, you have had a great year; lots of fun get-togethers, OCL championships, division or regional crowns, early acceptances, scholarships, and all sorts of other honors. We ' re really proud of the Class of ' 80; you guys have always been hard workers and we know that you ' ll con- tinue to work to achieve what you want from life. We, too, have had a super year. Again, as at SHS, it was the people who made it all so worthwhile. We really enjoyed our fellow teachers but, as at SHS, it was the stu- dents who really ' made the place. ' The kids at Valencia are really similar to Scituate ones; the major difference is that their whole life revolves around the school, whereas you are also involved in community activities, jobs, etc. 154 AND DANNY Because Valencia is the major industrial city in Vene- zuela, many oil connected companies from all over the world have located one of their plants here. In our Eng- lish and social studies classrooms, then, a number of nationalities were represented. Something that amazed us both was their facility with the English language. We, too, are becoming rapidly enculturated. One of us is taking Spanish lessons (Guess which one.) Both of us now can go shopping and are able to converse with the Venezuelans. While many do have the stereotyp- ical picture of the ' Ugly American, ' we ' re doing what we can to dispel that image. We usually spend our weekends camping on the beaches with our friends. One of our biggest thrills was when we managed to catch a whole flock of scarlet ibis in flight. (Remember the short story on the freshman Eng- lish final?) Let ' s face it . . . letters are so stilted. What we really want to do is to sit down with all of you and play the old ' Remember when . . .? ' game. Then, too, at the risk of sounding schmaltzy, we want to tell you just how much you will always mean to us. Of course, we want to do the inevitable, too; we want to wish you the very, very best ' Out There. ' We both know that you ' ll ' knock ' em dead Love, ' Dangerous Dan ' Osgood and ' Miz Molly ' Reddy 155 ]56 I f il vr ' vn Good Luck Seniors As You Take Off Into Your Future, May Each New Day Bring You More Happiness PAT CONNOLLY DODGE— MURPHY STUDIOS. -Your Official Yearbook Photographers 158 Compliments of GREENBUSH PACKAGE STORE 42 Country Way 159 i X Congratulations Class of 1 980 m Conveyor Route 3A, Cohasset, MA.
