Eddie Weedon won all the spelling bees, things haven ' t changed much . . . Remember when Chris Mattern was the witch in Hansel and Gretel . . . then Elaine and Karen went through the stage because they wanted to be boys . . . they always wore their sneakers and baseball caps . . . How about the day when Mrs. Costello almost strangled Jim Kirby. Steve Larson and Steve Mehl, remember the gang and who could forget Cathy B. and Cathy C. Chris, Annmarie, and Nancy in Sunny of Sunnybrook Farm . . . Tommy Murphy was the bookworm . . . Barbra Wilkinson, Kathy Carrol and Nancy Tondorf wore nylons to the PTA meeting in 4th grade . . . Mary Jo was Mr. King ' s pet . . . Jimmy Kirby used to tell gruesome stories, and he was the president of our 6th grade ... In 6th grade all the girls were in love with Mr. Gaul . . . John A. gave Jane Scarry red mittens for Christmas. Then on to 7th grade, we thought we were really grown up! Janie and Darcy spent that year fighting over Roger . . . then there was the BIG romance between Nancy Watson 76 and Steve Larson . . . Remember when a bunch of us got hungry and stole the cupcakes out of the home ec. room, and Mr. Murphy said he was going to call up Sherlock Holmes to investigate. Remember square dancing in the auditorium . . . and Miss Giles standing at the stairwell, grabbing anybody out of Hne . . . Linda Geddry ' s P.J. party, and the frozen clothes . . . the cafeteria seating plan, and accidentally throwing away the table markers . . . Our class started the Jr. High St. Council . . . How about Mrs. Keenan ' s shower checks??? Next on to High School. Remember those short haircuts, Nancy and Carol? . . . Gael grew four inches . . . Bill Appel made his first appearance . . . Debbie A. ' s house was the den of ill repute . . . Sophomore year our Pizza Dance left us bankrupt . . . Our float started out to be a ghost, and ended up as a mountain . . . Debbie F. and Sue S. smiled for days until we noticed they had gotten their braces off . . . We ' ll never forget our Gay Nineties show. Our advisors found enough energy after all their hard work to polka around the cafeteria to the strains of Millie ' s flying fingers . . . Prom time got us out of lots of classes . . . We had a whole evening of Japanese Enchantment . . . and the day after???! Senioritis set in early. The Glades was beautiful at 7:30 a.m. Now in senior year we still get in trouble together. Since we have the lounge we don ' t have to travel to the harbor for coff ee and donuts! With the rush of making plans for college and living more on our own, we take time to look back on all our years of working and being together, and we must thank our deadly advisors, Mrs. Tondorf and Mrs. Svenson, who pulled our class togetether and made us the success we are today. 77 UNDER CLA SSMEN Sunrise sunset, sunrise sunset Swiftly flow the days Seedlings turn overnight to sunflowers Blossoming even as we gaze. 81 In the fall of 1968, things began happening to the Junior Class. Dues started coming in; their float, the Scituate Express, won second place during the homecoming festivities — all showing a united spirit and class eff ' ort. The Junior Class show, too, promises to be a unique and rewarding experience. The Juniors are showing great class and school spirit, and they look forward with confidence to their senior year at Scituate High School. Sophomores SOPHOMORES The class of 1971 has great spirit. It is working together as a unit in both class and school-wide activities. Through the cooperation of everyone, we were able to win the honors of blue and white week. Also, at the Homecoming festivities, the sophomore float was awarded first prize. With continuing cooperation, we should achieve great success and enjoyment in our next two years of high school. 84 85 Freshmen FRESHMEN The class of 1972, over three hundred strong, has high hopes for success in the next three years. This year ' s planned activity was a dance, and it was also hoped that the freshmen would be allowed two activities this year. The class advisors, who have provided invaluable assistance to our class this, are Mr. Dwyer and Miss Doyle. Class spirit is high, and we are all looking forward to our next three years at Scituate High. Miss Doyle, P. Fallon, B. Pipes, P. Babin, Mr. Dwyer 87 SPORTS Sunrise sunset, sunrise sunset Swiftly flow the years One season following another Laden with happiness and tears. Although the Sailors did not finish as well as expected, the class of 69 has a record to be proud of. In three years of varsity football the graduating players won 16, lost 7, and tied 4 football games. Scituate High owes a great debt to its coaching staff, especially line coach Paul Svenson, and to the outstanding players of 68 and the entire squad. Four players from Scituate made the all-star team. They were; defensive end Steve Larson, center George Whittaker middle line backer Keith Bradford, and halfback Steve Carlson. Football 68 ' Homecoming — October 5, 1968 The Field Hockey team has done well this year. After losing the first two games 1-0, the girls have come back to win 5 and tie 1. The Drama Club this year has taken a tremendous step toward becoming one of the largest clubs at SHS. A Raisin in the Sun was presented on the weekend of November 22, 1968. This was the first time the Drama Club was able to run a play for three nights. The cast included Stephen Baxter, Richard Holds, Gail Margeson, Jo-anne Brennan, Jeff Lavoine, James Coelho, Tom Fleming, Tom Flanagan, and Ann Shannon. One generation of Drama Club members would like to will lost scripts, forgotten lines and frayed nerves to the Drama Club of the future. Many thanks to Mr. Edward Malick, and Mrs. Keith Brown for making A Raisin in the Sun possible.
