O ' Neil. Library The Library Staff was organized thisyearwith Charlotte White, presi- dent; Betty Winston, vice president; Nancy Ashley, secretary; and Patricia Dunphy, treasurer. Chosen as board members were Donald Oakes, ' 56; C onstance Gomes , ' 57; Ann Fitz- gerald, ' 58; and Rosalie Warshaw, ' 59. Meetings were held on Tuesdays during the Activity Period for the pur- pose of mending books, typing cards, and discussing the problems of the li- brary. An open meeting was planned for the eighth graders, featuring a guest speaker on the history of Scitu- ate. Members of the library staff have attended meetings and parties for school librarians at Braintree High, South Quincy Junior High, and North Quincy High School. In February the Scituate club entertained several South Shore librarian groups. Staff I 31

Band The Scituate High School Band has had a most successfxil season under the direction of Mr. Dickinson. They welcomed several new members and a completely new group of drum majorettes. This fall the band played at most of the football games and rallies, and they participated in the High School Band Day at a Boston University game. They joined in the South Shore Christ- mas Parade at Quincy, presented two joint concerts with the Marshfield High Band, played in the annual concert of the Music Department, and in May at- tended the Southeastern Massa- chusetts Music Festival held at Need- ham. Two groups of band musicians made up the Fife, Jug, and Bottle Band and the German Band. Beth Gunn, Jean Gunn, Rosalie Evans , Constance Bailey Beryl Sylvester, and Beverly Burt played in the Southeastern Massa- chusetts School Bandmasters ' Asso- ciation concert at Brockton, and Be- verly Burt and Beryl Sylvester were selected as members of the All-State Band.
