As the seventh grade dawned to us, we frightfully looked to our upperclassmen for support We also felt ourselves superior to last year, because we now changed classes with our heroes and idols As we entered the freshman class, we truly realized that we were now in high school. Many of our classmates had come and gone, leaving us with an enrollment of 58 As sophomores, we began to take interest in making money for our prom, which was a great success As juniors, we made our first attempt at dramatics with a play that proved to be a big hit, 'House for Sale, Haunted Thus, we come to our senior year not realizing that our goal in academic life is just ahead Through the years this class has been well represented in all of the school activities Now, as the school year is just about over, we are looking forward to our trip and the time when we can look back to our school days with pride As we do, we want to pay particular thanks to all of the teachers that have helped us in any way E-9 Q- I X KM X 5 1 '1- L J ,ff X -. B. fl Ax A S P H E It is now nineteen hundred and sixty four, ten years since I grad- uated from Scio High School It is also time for the first real vac ation I, Elyzabeth Tomazin, have had since I came to St Albans Naval Hospital on Long Island as a Registered Nurse I have two glorious weeks to do as I wish I packed my few belongings, got out my '60 Olds and headed South By the time I reached Atlantic City, New Jersey, I was starved,so I stopped at a roadside drive in Much to my surprise, I saw Hattie Kigamgpg coming toward my car She told me thd: he and Barbara Stevens owned the hash house together and that Shirley Wagner was the chief hash slinger After eating I traveled on to Washington D C Here I stopped for the remainder of the day and the night. Having never been here before bus, I discovered that Richard Moore was the driver I was frantic, knowing h0' D1Gk H864 to hot rod around school Had he changed? I surely hoped so He told me that he and Robert Mack owned the Touring Bus Company and were their own drivers He also said that Joanne Murray Hardman was President Stevenson's private secretary since her husband was still in the service Morning came early and I was off again Finally I reached Miami Beach, Florida, where I planned to remain a few days When I went to rent a Motel,I found that Aneta Kirby Harris owned the Motel and Nite Club on the beach She seemed surprised to see me. We started talk ing about the good old days d:S1 Hi and the fun we had there when Jack Markley walked up. He was down there on vacation, too He said that he had entered politics upon graduating and was now running for Governor of Ohio. I wished him the best of luck and said couldn't vote for him That night I went to the nite club for supper there was going to be a big party later in honor one of those Jewett boys who were to be married I was sorry that I They told me that of Jane Edwards and the following week When I went to congratulate Jane she told me that Elsie Trushell and Eva Belle Everhart are in Hollywood Elsie is the stand in for Marilyn Monroe and Eva is Marilyn's private maid Boy,some people have all the luck, I have to work for a living The nextday I bought some magazines and a newspaper and went down to the beach for a tan The paper fell open to the sports page and I saw some familiar faces George Starkey is playing football for the Los Angeles Rams and Kenny Harmon is center for Michigan State Dick Splker is center on Ohio State's basketball team Putting away the paper I started through the mazazine. On the world news I aw that Siegfried Steinbeisser was elected president of Unified Germany. Just th1nk,S1gg1e was one of the honorable graduates in '54 Further in the magazine I saw an article on farming in Texas The Myers brothers, Jimmy and Eddie, owned a big ranch where they raised chipmunks On a neighboring ranch Stuart Henderson was raising skunks,a new breed without the white streak It is now time for me to leave Florida ing more time than needed for the journey,I issippi and Ohio Rivers, stopping in Scio down the back and odorless and start back home. Hav- decided to go up the Miss- to see those old familiar sights. when I get to scio, I went to the Pottery for s0me food- There I saw Maxine Woods. She is the secretary to the vice-president of the bank and is glgtgd for a promotion soon. 38 C L S P R O C Y W . . s I decided to take a sight-seeing tour of the c1ty.' Upon boarding the s I hurried across town to theschool house to see some of my former teachers When I stuck my head into the typing room, I saw that Lois Green had replaced M s Lemasters as commercial teacher She was working with the annual staff I wasn't very surprised because I knew that she wanted to be a teacher I left and hurried down the hall to the English room where I heard Marsha Greer talking about split infinitives She had talked Mrs Wiggins into resigning so that she could teach She told me that Carol Umpleby was a lawyer out in Las Vegas, handling mostly divorce cases Going down to the first floor I found Ingrida Fedor in the band room in place of Mr Baroni Bob Rogers was now coach and also teach- In the basement I found Don Noah in the vo ag room instead of Mr. Thomas H said that Albert Crall was a foreman at the pottery and that Dick Gibson owned a chicken farm I was about ready to leave when I saw Martha Fisher in the hall. She is a teacher at Canton Actual Business College and was out to talk to students about a career in business She said that Jane Myer was a model out in Chicago and that Sylvia Norman owned a large dress shop in Oregon I was told that Teruko Slentz lives over on College Street and has two lovely daughters It is now time for me to get on my way back to New York In the past two weeks I have seen or heard about all of my former classmates I have seen how we all have adjusted to life on our own two feet have done very well, and I can wish for no more We are all doing our part to keep this great livable, loveable world fit for the future generations and to keep democracy living Now I must live on thememories of the past two weeks 'til my next vacation. 39 ing driver training.. . 4 S .WS 1.953 FOOTBAI I QUEEN Queen Aneta Kirby Grace Davis Sarah Barrett Barbara Stevens Pictures Scio gerald Scio, Ohio Donna Wagner 4 b N I C T O DEAN CHANAY Coshocton High, l,2,3 ALBERT CRALL F F A , l,2,5,4, Junior Class Play, 3 JANE EDWARDS Latin Club, 1,2, F H A , 2, Class Play, 4, Chorus, 1, Student Council, l, Latin Club Officer, 2, Student Secretary, 4 EVA EVERHART F H A , l,2,5,4, Chorus, l INGRIDA FEDOR Chorus, l,2,5,4, Latin, 5,4, F H A , 2,3,4 MARTHA FISHER Class Play, 4, Homecoming Attendant, 2, Librarian, 4, Chorus, l,2,3,4, F H A , 2, Girls State Representative, 5, Student Secretary, 3,4, National Honor Society, 4 RICHARD GIBSON Football, l,2,5,4, Basketball, l,2, Baseball, l,2,4, F F A , l,2,3,4, F F A Officer, 4 LOIS GREEN Chorus, l,2,5,4, Class Officer, l F H A , 2, Class Play, 5,4 Student Secretary, 5,4, Librarian, 4, National Honor Society, MARSHA GREER Latin Club, 1,2 Band, l 2,3, Chorus, l,2,3,4, Class Plav 5 4 National Honor Society, 5,4, Class Officer, l,2,5, Band Officer Latin Club Officer, 4, Student Secretary, 4 JOAN HARDMAN F H A , l,2,3,4, Student Secretary, 4 KENNETH HARMON Basketball, l,2,5,4, Football, l,2,5,4, Baseball, l,2,3,4, Class Play, 3 STUART HENDERSON Basketball, 5,4, Baseball, 3,4, F F A , l,2,3,4, F F A Officer, 5, Class Officer, 5 ANETA KIRBY Class Officer, 4, F H A , 2,4, F H A Officer, 4, Student Council 5,4, Class Play, 3,4, Homecoming Queen, 4, Homecoming Attendant, 3, Student Secretary, 5,4, Prom Attendant, 5 HATTIE KISAMORE Chorus, l, F H A , 2,4, Class Play, 4, Student Secretary, 3 JACK MARKLEY Football, l,2,3,4, Basketball, l,2,5,4, Baseball, l,2,3,4, Class Officer, 4, Student Council, 4, Homecoming Escort, 4, Prom Escort, 5 EDWARD MYERS Football, 4, Basketball, 2,3,4, Baseball, 5,4, Class Play, 3 F F A , l,2,3,4, F F A Officer, 3,4, Band, 1,2 JAMES MYERS Football, 4, Basketball, 2,5,4, Baseball, 5,4, Class Play, 5,4, F F A , l,2,5,4, F F A Officer, 5,4 DONALD NOAH F F A , l,2,5,4, F F A Officer, 5,4, Class Play, 5,4, Class Officer, l,2,3, Prom Escort, 3, National Honor Society, 4 SYLVIA NORMAN F H A , 2, Chorus, 1,2, Class Officer, l Latin Club, 1, Student Secretary, 4 ROBERT ROGERS Basketball, l,2,5,4, Football, 2,5,4, Baseball, l,2,5,4, Homecoming Escort, 3,4, Prom Escort, 3, Class Officer, 4, Boys State Representative, 3 RICHARD SPIKER Class President, l,2,5, Basketball, l,2,5,4, Baseball, l,2,4, Class Play, 5,4, Bovs Senior Chorus, 4 Boys State Represen tative 3, Latin Club, 1 2, Co Captain Basketball Team, 4 Loast master of Prom, 3 GEORGE STARKEY Class President, 4, Basketball, l,2,5,4, Football, 2,5,4, Baseball, l,2,5,4, Class Play, 3,4, Football Captain, 4, Co Captain Basketball Team, 4, Junior Senior Prom King, 5 SIEGFRIED STEINBEISSER F F A , 4 BARBARA STEVENS F H A , 2,4, Chorus, 1,2, Prom Queen, 5, Homecoming Attendant, 4, F H A Officer, 4, Student Secretary, 5 ELIZABETH TOMAZIN Class Officer, l, National Honor Society, 5,4, Class Play, 5,4 A , ELSIE TRUSHELL F H A , l,2,5,4, Chorus, 2,3, Student Secretary, 4 CAROL UMPLEBY Latin Club, l,2, Latin Club Officer, 2, Band, l,2,3, Chorus, l,2,5,4, Class Play, 3,4, Class Officer, l,2,5, Student Council, 2, Student Secretary, 4, Librarian, l,2,3,4 SHIRLEY WAGNER F H A , l,2,5,4, Chorus, l,2, Student Secretary, 4 MAXINE WOODS F H A , l,2,3,4, Class Play, 3, Chorus, 1,2, Student Secretary, 4 41 S E O R D I R E ' R Y 2 ' I n Q 0 ' I o u 4 I 9 . . 1 e I 3: f . - - JANE MYER: F.H.A., l,2,3,43 F.H.A. officer, 2, Class Play, :5 2 . . . 5 F.Hf . 2 fb C3 lIl'llUl'5 'N aww f'- 'Nm all M! vw T' .41 'C' llf Arthur Albaugh, Kay Amos, Dolores Barker, Sarah Barrett, James Beatty Robert Brooks, Robert Burton, Ruth Butterfield, Naomi Dodson, Lois Emery Joan Gavorcik, Barbara Henderson, Ray Hendricks, Barbara Hill, Harry Horstman Jerri Horton, Robert McDevitt, Harold Moore, William Myer, Paul Ralston Elton Roberts, Doris Pfouts, Martha Strawder, Ronald Stull, Thelma Trushell Margaret Voorhees, Robert Whiteman, Arlene Wolf, Nancy Worrell Absent Henry Shores, Ralph McAfee 42 6 L 0 I a Goa o ., 0 5' Q 94' P is 9 0,1- 6,5 Refs?
