SENIOR PROPHECY The class of 1968 in 1988, you are there ..... Today is the launching of the new moon rocket, the West Scio IV. Cheryl Staats, the first lady astronaut is entering the nose cone now. This rocket was design- ed by that brillant scientist, Don Fixen. The last person who attempted this trip wound up in the Shelburn General Hospital, where we find the great neurosurg- eon, Dr. Joseph Lee, and his very beautiful and skilled nurse, Shery Yunker. Next door to the hospital, and very convenient, is the R.l.P. Funeral Home owned by Nadine Toews, a very successful mortician. Nadine handles all of her businessthroughRay Zelenka, a well- known coffin builder. On the brighter side of town we see that it is the annual drag race at Gilkey. Gary Censky, three-time winner of the Gilkey 500, is entering his '44 dune buggy designed by him and his wife, formerly Paula Shaffer. Paula, a famed ballerina, is at her 352nd lesson at Albert and Trudy Zelenka's Dance Studio in Kingston Heights, Shelburn. The studio is located right across the road from Dave Burch's car lot. Dave is a wealthy Rambler salesman, and just sold a '60 to Bill Hinderliter, the professional golfer. Bill is playing at the Santiam finals this Sunday. His caddy happens to be none other than Wilfred Toews, the number one folk singer of our time. His latest recording is entitled, I Wanna Hold Your Hand, Baby, But lt Feels Like A Cactus, So Why Don't You Try Jergens? Many of us have taken a more industrious road, however. Kenny Burger, Hugh Heffner's nephew, has has taken over his uncle's business, and has made it big in the magazine business. Kenny is also George Bynum's campaign manager. George is the current governor of Oregon, who, after a short movie career, is up for nomination for President of the United States .......Vote GBB!!! Other celebrities are Bette Hueller and Buddy Dunn who are now the Sonny and Cher of our genera- tion, and Janice Horinek, a white Supreme, who is trying for Miss America again this year. Some of us have opened small businesses of our own. Loveable Louie's Lingerie is a shop on Main in Rogue River where you will find Louie Miller, the famous designer and model. Ron Cowan is a lawn- mower repairman, and part-time foot amputator. l T06

hear there is good money in that. Mike Harbison had to give up the plumbing business when he got to mon- keying around and screwed his finger into a garbage disposal unit. Sherry and Don Tatum own a large snake farm where they take in boarders. Currently staying there is Jim Shepherd who lust got back from fighting fire in the neighbor's back yard. The neighbor wasn't too happy about how his steaks came out of it, though. We'll see if Jim ever gets invited to another barbecue. Gary Benson owns a fabulous green house where he raises his own shrubs,He has some new ones on the marketg he calls them Benson's Hedges. Randy Bothern, a secret agent for A.U.N.T., is engaged to Lorna Hargan, a waitress at the Duck-lnn. They will be married by Father Tom Flande at St. Mary's Church this coming June. Another successful one is Jeanne Port, the nation- al chairman of the John Phillip Sousa Award committ- ee. This year's winner is Lois Dain. She gave a solo on the tuba, piano, harp, and drums ., ,,.,..a at the same time! Verl Thomas, who is still trying to graduate, is still herding sheep on the McDonald ranch. Becki McDonald, the owner is on welfare and has mortgaged the ranch. Becki's best friend Geri Dodge, helps her out a little. Geri, an English teacher at good ole' Scio High, is trying to pull a few strings with Peggy Peterson, the chairman of the Board of Health, who has a bad habit ofcondemningthings. Also connected with the school is Dan Johnston, the best truant officer Scio has had in ten years, and Connie Parker who replaced Mr. Chromy just recently. Pearl Smith has entered the business world and is now a receptionist at the offices of Walker and Walker, where Joe Walker is a manufacturer of electric trains. Joe gives a free train to department stores dur- ing the Christmas season. Robert Ruettgers works every Christmas as a Santa Claus on the street corner near Thurstons. Monica Moulton, an operator at Ring-A-Ling Phone Company is currently on strike and is now working at the Stayton Cannery where Danny Chase is the head foreman after working there for twenty years. Elaine Koop is a house mother at the University of Scio where we find Cathy Kuipers, the brilliant philo- sopher. After looking at all the success around us, it's a shame that one rotten apple had to spoil the barrel. But Bonnie had to become a hippy and move to L.A. so Calvin could get out of the service and Bonnie could get out of housework. Well, tomorrow's Sunday, so we can turn on our TV and watch the world's series, and Larry Newtson, famous catcher for the New York Yankees. lO7
