I, Cla 5 History Our first six years of school meant two things knowledge and recess we got our share of both Life became a new world when we entered the seventh grade when the warning bells sounded in the studyhall, we did not know whether it was a hurried Wphone' call for someone or a burglar alarm when the final bell sounded to change classes, we just leaped up and followed we especially envied the tall, smiling, and dignified seniors when we entered our freshman year, we settled down to our four years of training we took part in the different clubs, band, mixed chorus, and all sports During our sophomore year, we chose our class rings, and we were looking forward to the time when we would be Juniors We worked hard in our junior year with the Junior Senior Prom and our class play Both became a wonderful success Now as seniors, we are about to put away our books, and, with our own weapons, go out into the world Some will reach high positions, and some will reach low positions Some will have their names engraved in the Hall of Fame Our hearts beat with pride to think that we are about to close the doors of Solo High School behind us and open the great doors and enter into the valley and turmoil of 'Lifen and 'Success ' Zh 0 the crowd. The others laughed at our ignorance. How we envied them! THE SUPEBINTENDENT'S MESSAGE TO THE UNDEBCLASSMEN 'The Pages of Our Years Advice is plentiful and therefore cheap, and everybody an expert in giving advice Youth is reluctant to heed the dismal warnings of experience The face of experience is more often frightening than reassuring to look upon Experience learning to live is merely education by another name And education is difficult and sometimes painful, if it and human beings must often learn the lonely way, in the bitter but bracing school of hard knocks Galileo, an expert in clear thinking and productive living, said, 'You cannot teach a man anything, you can only help him to find it within himself ' So rather than wish for you the warm and sunny paths of the easy way through life, we pray for you the rugged joy of work well done and the courage to live always 'above and beyond the call of duty ' 'Our lives are albums written through with good or ill, with false ortrue And as the blessed angels turn The pages of our years, God grant they read the good with smiles And blot the 111 with tears J G Whittier 26 Oibln is is effective.
