The Latin Club had two social events at home during the year. The first a hay ride to McCues farm where initiation for freshmen was held. The second, a spring party for members and guests. Dancing and games were the diversions of the evening. February 9th, they were entertained at Jewett by the Latin Club, Later a trip to Pittsburgh, Pa. for a Latin week program at the Buhl Planetarium was enjoyed by all of the club. During Basketball season, a basketball rally was given. The Gods and Godesses attired in their togas gave speed and power to the Scio Panthers. The study of Latin is important today because 10,400 of the 20,000 words that we use most frequently in English reading are of Latin origin. Latin increases culture and gives satisfaction throughout life.
