THE SILHOUETTE PrincipaPs Message Class of 1936: The time has now come when we must say, Farewell, my dear friendslll We do so gladly and cheerfully, because we recognize that this has been your desire. You have studied much and achieved some measure of success-enough to graduate-and now eagerly look forward to a new destiny. It is the universal and ancient prerogative of youth to boldly and energetically attack the problems of life. We wish you suc- cess, and Godspeed in this desire. We say goodbye somewhat sadly, too. You have given us of your cheerfulness and vitality and sincerity of purpose, thereby encouraging us and keeping us oldsters just a little younger. We will miss you more than you think. Come back to see us and tell us the accidents, the achievements and the disappointments that befall you. Our sadness in losing you will then change into gladness. We gladly and yet sadly say, Farewellll. eMr. W. L. Rickey

i DEDICATION m0 OUR parents who worked and made many sac- rifices that we might attend school; to our teachers who were kind and patient, who gave us efficient instruc- tion and inspiration to seek more knowledge that we might graduate to a fuller life; to our dear Alma Mater which furnished us with a place to work and play and a background for fond memories; to these, we, the June Class of U 6, most grate- fully dedicate this, the final record of our achievements in full appreciation of all that has been done for us.

THE SILHOUETTE Ixf Assistant PrincipaPs Message You say I should write a message for the Year Book of 1936. What a message could I give you that you have not already heard from me a number of times? Advice? This is your open season for it, and you are receiving it in abundance. But advice alone will not take care of the years ahead. You largely must form your own decis- ions and act there-on. I hope that during your four-year journey as a member of the caravan of Old Scienceville that you have accumulated certain knowledge, and an out-look on life that will enable you to meet life,s problems a little better than you would have done otherwise. That you have learned to appreciate some of the homely maxims, some of the simple truths, that have come down through the ages as the experiences of the race. That a clean life pays. That happiness is an attitude of the mind and can be gained only in the process of service and in making others happy. That success and true-worth can be secured only through hard work and constant application. That all kinds of labor whether in the factory, the office, or a professional position, is hon- orable and worthy of your best efforts. That the excellency of all civilizations have been based upon the morality of their peoples and that all moral codes are based upon Religion. That real success in life is not dependent upon the bank account Which you may accumulate but simply in being a clean, upright, and Christian man or woman, serving your fellow men, and in return receiving their respect and homage. . Scienceville will miss you; but bids you Godspeed, with a hope that you may fall heir to the best things m life; and a de51re that you may occasionally return to the halls where you spent your high school days. -C.
