Dreams That Came True The Crown Belongs To Angela The Homecoming of 1984 will be one long remembered. After an exhausting week of campaigning, painting signs, and decorating cars and walls, homecoming festivities were over and there was time to recooperate. At the game, the excitement of competi- tion filled the air. A stillness swept over the stands as the crowd so anxiously awaited the name of the 1984 Science Hill Homecoming Queen. Christy Harber, sponsored by FCA was the first name announced as second runner up. Next came Jill Bradshaw, sponsored by the Vocational Industrial Clubs of America (V.I.C.A.). Silence suddenly overtook the spectators as the new Homecoming Queen was about to be announced. As the name Angela Brown came over the intercom sys- tem, the crowd was filled with excitement. The new homecoming queen, spon- sored by the French Club, smiled as she was crowned. Science Hill has always had a traditional homecoming. This year was no exception. Even though the football team was defeated by Ten- nessee High, the spirit of homecoming and competi- tion still filled the stands. With the support shown by our Toppers, this year will al- ways be a special year to be remembered. A smiling Angela Brown, sponsored by French Club, is crowned the new Homecoming Queen. New Fashion Trends Abound Students Learn To Jazz Up Outfits with Acessories This year students embraced the latest national fashion trends, adding a few unique twists on the way. Some styles from last year were still prevalant, while others faded from the scene, letting new ones take their place. Many found that a short cut to fashion was a short hair- cut! In the new, versitile styles, it was hard to pass up the attractive option of short hair. Many wore their hair in spiky or tousled cuts for a unique look. Although many stuck to the basic jeans and oxford uni- form of past years, a great number of students strived to make their attire more outra- geous than ever. Jeans came to life with added zippers, patches or multiple pockets, and heavy-duty camoflague pants were seen wandering down many a hallway. Bright sweaters and shirts in neon hues and in interesting styles and patterns were also a fa- vorite. Accessories also added a per- sonal touch to many outfits. Dangly earrings and twister beads were fun ways to make the most of any outfit. Flats and low heeled boots added the final touches. Tammy Arnett, Kelly Smith, and Dana Bates show that fashion need not be trendy. As Mandy Berry shows, the new “potholder” sweaters were popular. ♦ 26 Student Life
