Homecoming Week ’84 A New Way To Celebrate Old Traditions Homecoming week was one of Science Hill’s most spirit- ed weeks this year. The Stu- dent Government sponsored quite a few activities. Among these activities were special “fun days”, that is, different days to dress up abnormally. Two of the favorites were Beach Day and Hillbilly Day. On these days, as the name says, students and faculty dressed up accordingly. These days went quite well which showed that old Top- per spirit. The Student Government also sponsored a Pep Rally, where a possom queen was elected by the student body. Robert McAdams was the winner, but the competition was rough. Then, Saturday night played host to a sock hop. The turn out was above average, and the dance was really fun. All week long, competition was in the air. The campus was plastered with signs and everyone was campaigning for someone. This was defi- nitely a very spirited week and it meant much to spirit- ed Toppers. The week pre- pared Toppers for the game Friday night and the an- nouncement of this year’s Homecoming Queen. The overall feeling was that Toppers enjoyed Homecom- ing Week. Dreams That Came True The Crown Belongs To Angela The Homecoming of 1984 will be one long remembered. After an exhausting week of campaigning, painting signs, and decorating cars and walls, homecoming festivities were over and there was time to recooperate. At the game, the excitement of competi- tion filled the air. A stillness swept over the stands as the crowd so anxiously awaited the name of the 1984 Science Hill Homecoming Queen. Christy Harber, sponsored by FCA was the first name announced as second runner up. Next came Jill Bradshaw, sponsored by the Vocational Industrial Clubs of America (V.I.C.A.). Silence suddenly overtook the spectators as the new Homecoming Queen was about to be announced. As the name Angela Brown came over the intercom sys- tem, the crowd was filled with excitement. The new homecoming queen, spon- sored by the French Club, smiled as she was crowned. Science Hill has always had a traditional homecoming. This year was no exception. Even though the football team was defeated by Ten- nessee High, the spirit of homecoming and competi- tion still filled the stands. With the support shown by our Toppers, this year will al- ways be a special year to be remembered. A smiling Angela Brown, sponsored by French Club, is crowned the new Homecoming Queen.
