Isolating herself on Mondays, Lynda Herdelin attempts to get back into the swing of things. Preserved over the weekend, Brook Stanley is ready for Biology dissection. The cafeteria gathering brought many back to life on Mondays. It looks like Andy Tweed really has the right idea! Student Life 19

Monday Blues The Crabgrass In The Lawn Of Life Monday. Waking up to a screaming alarm clock and tiredly dragging out of a warm bed; students get ready to start another week. Nothing good ever seemed to happen on Mondays. Even the thought of Monday brought dread into the minds of students. Monday meant having to get up early even though we were recovering from the weekend. It meant having to get back into the swing of things, and knowing that there were still four more days to go until the next weekend! It meant find- ing the homework we were supposed to do over the weekend, but just cpuldn’t quite find the time for. Prob- ably worst of all, it usually meant finding out what you made on last Friday’s test. While walking down the hall, you could actually pick out which students had to face test results and which ones could rest easy for one more hour. That scared, dazed Monday look seemed to say it all. Luckily, the 2:30 bell fi- nally rang and relief washed over everyone. All that was left to worry about was Tues- day, and Wednesday, and Thursday, and ... 18 Student Life

We’re 1... And Don’t You Forget It! Spirit! It was everywhere this year, not only the Seniors, but the Sophomores as well as the Juniors, had it too! The faculty even joined in by dressing in maroon and gold and even helping as pall- bearers for DB’s funeral! No one was afraid to let out a top-of-the-lung yell, or an ear piercing whistle. The pep ral- lies were outrageously fun. We had a hog snortin’ good time. Pie slings and bunny hops helped to get things go- ing, as did Mr. Evan’s favor- ite cheers. Number 12 was THE num- ber! Number 12 was the spirit factor of the teams. It gave the school a feeling of unity and purpose. We were all pulling together for a victory, and together we got quite a few. Our athletes were tough and they all worked hard to make their team the best it could be. Our students worked hard in class to make them- selves the best they could be academically. Everyone wanted to live up to the Hill- topper Image. Together we got through the heartbreak- ing defeats and the over- whelming triumphs of every- day life on the hill. Someone was always ready to pat someone else on the back and say “Good try”, or “Way to go”. This pep rally fired up the football players! “Mmn, Lemon Merangue,” says Mr. Moss as Nancy Tipton smears pie in his face. 20 Student Life
