RICHARD RAY BRENDEL Richard is one of the boys turned out by the commercial department of S.V.H.S. Although at the present time he is employed at the local auction, he intends some day to use his education by becoming a business manager of a super-market. Richard has been the scorekeeper of basketball games during the 1958-59 season. He has also been a very competent sports editor of the Pantherette. His school activities have included: Safety pat- rol in ninth gradeg Press Club in ninth, tenth, eleventh, and twelfth grades, Varsity Club in ninth grade, Chef Club in twelfth gradeg manager of J.V. team in tenth gradeg and manager of the Varsity team in ninth grade. JOANN BOWMAN The commercial course has been ,loAnn's elec- tive in her senior high school years. She has a very personable appearance, has an unusually attractive complexion, and has dark hair. JoAnn is presently employed, in her spare time, as a waitress. But after she has finished school, she hopes to take up the ways of a beautician. Her favorite expression is Oh sure.', Her favorite pastime is reading good books. .loAnn's activities have consisted of: Y-Teens in tenth and eleventh grades and Press Club in eleventh and twelfth grades. 1 e E 78 l

JAMES OWEN BOND The commercial course has been Jamesls selec- tion in his last two years at S.V.H.S. After grad- uation. he will be another alumnus who plans on entering the armed services - the Army. He is presently working part time on his uncle's farm. but he hopes his two years. as an academic student. will be of value tu him later. Co-operation is one uf his finer assets. He nev- er hesitates to lend a helping hand. James has been an active participant in the fol- lowing activities: Press Club in eleventh and twelfth grades: Band in ninth. tenth. eleventh. and twelfth grades: and on the stage crew for the ,lunior and Senior Class plays. BARBARA ANNE BOND ln spite of the fact that Barbara's choice of study in her high school years was the commercial course. she has a staunch future ambition of being a kindergarten instructor. Lively. energetic. and most ambitious are quite descriptive of this girl who has helped many an organization. especially our class of '59, to being a successful group. Her clerical studies have proved of great value to her as she served as secretary of her senior class and the Student Council. At the annual Valentines Dance in our sopho- more year Barbara reigned as '6Queen of Hearts. Barbara has been an active participant in the following clubs: Vallette staff in tenth, eleventh, and twelfth grades: Student Council in tenth, eleventh. and twelfth grades: vice-president in eleventh grade, secretary in twelfth grade: Press Club in ninth, tenth, eleventh, and twelfth grades: cheerleading in tenth, eleventh, and twelfth grades: Varsity Club in tenth and eleventh grades: Dramatic Club in twelfth grade: Band in ninth, tenth. and eleventh grades: Y-Teens in tenth and eleventh grades: and hall patrol in eleventh and twelfth grades.

VERNER ALBERT BUCKL Verner, born in Germany, has undertaken the academic curriculum with the desire to become a chemical engineer. One of Verner's chief interests, art, has been of great advantage to our class. Because of his artistic ability. he was chosen to serye as chairman of the art committee on the Vallette staff. ln his spare time Verner can be found drawing, working on his hi-fi. or trying to bring in foreign stations on his short-wave. When asked what his present occupation is, he replies, Anything from a dishwasher to a bus boy at the restaurant where I workf' His activities have included: Vallette staff in eleventh and twelfth grades: safety patrol in ninth grade: Press Club in tenth grade: Dramatic Club in ninth and twelfth grades: Photography Club in eleventh grade: debating team in tenth. eleventh, and twelfth grades: soccer in ninth, tenth. and eleventh grades: typing club in twelfth grade: Junior Class play: and student director of Senior Class play. NANCY ANN BROWN Nancy has chosen the commercial course of study which will enable her to be a thrifty house- wife. conscious of all financial problems which may occur. An expert roller skater. she relaxes to the soft music of the rink organ. She also enjoys music with a hill-billy tang to it. not quite so dreamy. but awakening l She prefers Italian food. which is highly season- ed, especially good home-made spaghetti. In her senior year Nancy was a member of the Travel Club.
