Ernest entered the public schools of Schuylkill Haven and graduated from Junior High in 1929. He. continued his studies and at the time of his death had just finished his Junior year. He was a member of the High School Band and of the Orchestra oi' the United Brethren Sunday School and also played with the Bressler Band. Ernest was a good student and had a fine, sunny and pleasant disposition, and an industrious ambitious nature. He joined the Boy Scouts at the age of twelve and took: an active part in the activities of that organization. Several months before his death he won the Bugling Contest of the Schuylkill County Council of Boy Scouts, His sudden and accidental death was a great shock to all who knew him. Ernie's short life was not accompanied by many of the advantages which most boys possess but he made the most of it and of the few years given to him.
