We also took home the second place boys-girls trophy scoring only one point behind the first place combined winners. We went on to tie Greenwich for the duel meet league Championship with a record of five wins, no loses and one tie adding another trophy to our trophy case. We finished second at the Class CC Sectionals out of 13 schools. At the sectionals Rodger Sherman finished first in the triple jump, long jump and fourth in the 200m dash. John Flewelling was first in the Pentathlon with Gregg Nichols finishing fourth in that event. Mick Sails was fourth in the shot put, with Matt Willson coming in sixth. Keith Bushy was first in the pole vault and Todd Huber scored a point for our team with his sixth place finish. From this group, through the use of a written exam, 14 finalists were chosen. This group competed against each other in a sim- ulation of the TV show, Answers Please, before an evening audience. The four scoring the most points became team members with the next 2 high scorers becoming alternates. The team competes on WRGB on April 30th. PRESIDENTIAL CLASSROOM February 14-20, 1988 by Sherrie Coleman In an intensive week of seminars, debates, and lec- tures, the Presidential Classroom sharpened my ideas about government because a wide variety of opinions were presented. Attending the Classroom gave me a sense of excitement that active political involvement can bring. One of the high points of my experience was the chance to meet people from around the world and exchange my thoughts on current events. 115 Hey! Kristen’s Benefit Game We’re finally going home! Mike and Wayne 116 Thank-you The Yearbook Staff would like to pay a special thanks to the following people were extremely helpful and essential for the success of the 1988 SCHUYLER Mrs. Armenio Mrs. Culver Mrs. Drew Mr. Brenner Mrs. Hack Mr. Longton Mrs. Bodnar Teaching Staff Mrs. Ellis All Patrons and Advertisers Mrs. Brunson Don Elliot, photographer Art Contest This year we held an art contest for the children in grades K-6. We featured the most original and the nicest pieces. The kindergarten drew cookies; the first grade drew happy faces; the second grade drew leaves; the third grade drew potato chips; the fourth drew pets; the fifth drew pizzas, and the sixth grade drew their favorite sport. I would like to thank the students and teachers for their co-operation to help liven up the K-6 pages. — Joanne Litterer Dear Yearbook Staff, I would like to send my sincere appreciation to you for all the hard work you have done this year. Because we were so efficient, we raised over $4985 in advertisements, and totalled another $5325 in our yearbook pre-sale campaign. Thank you all: Sharon, for the pages and pages of typing; Amy, for bugging those Seniors for their pictures and wills; Melinda, for thinking up so many clever sport captions; Diane, for finding the names of countless obscure people in the club pictures; Jim and Randy, for the endless number of quad-pack redrawings; Kim C., Jeff and Kerrie, for raising hundreds of dollars through ad sales; Becky, Starra, Megan, April, and many more for selling yearbooks; Sherrie, for your artistic ability. Donna and Kim, I leave the 1989 yearbook in your hands next year. Finally, I must thank Mrs. Liptak for everything. We were both new to the yearbook scene, and we learned a great deal together. You were a great businesswoman and an inspiration to me. I appreciate the use of your classroom all those ninth periods. The yearbook experience for me has been irreplaceable. I have never worked with a finer, more responsible group of people. I have learned so much about time-management, deadlines, cooperation, and friendship. I know that when I leave SCS I will take these memories with me. I hope you will too. Thank you all!
