He was a quiet, likable young lad, a good student, and a very enthusiastic athlete. In his sophomore year, Ed learned he had cancer. This was devastating news, especially for a sixteen year old, to ac- cept, but Ed was very brave, and taught all of us how to live. Ed appreciated the little things in life that we take for granted. He never had an unkind word to say about anyone. Ed knew how to make people smile, and always was strong and brave enough not to let us see the pain he felt. He never complained and remained courageous until the end. We at Schuylerville Central were very fortunate to have had our lives touched by this very special young man. The memory of Ed Broring shall remain in our hearts forever. • • • Who’s Who MOST ATHLETIC JOEL JACKIE MOST POPULAR GREG CHRISTI CLASS HEARTBREAKERS PAT LARA BEST DRESSED BOB NANCY MOST CHEERFUL JIM STEPHANIE 28 CLASS CLOWNS JIM DAWN In The Class Of ’86 MOST TALKATIVE CURT ANGIE MOST INTELLIGENT GARTH PATTY CLASS COUPLE TOM TAMMEY MOST HUGGABLE ROLAND CHRISTI 29 MOST CONSIDERATE MIKE G TAMMEY CLASS CARS ROLAND JOEL A. All worked hard to peak for the Sectionals. It paid off!! Team finish was third out of 14 schools in the CC Sections—only 4 points away from the first place finisher. Outstanding times and efforts at the Sections: 2 mile relay finished first and mile relay finished second; mem- bers are Ron Hayes, Paul Willson, Dave Durling and Mike Hayes. Dave Durling also won the 400 meter hur- dles and set a new school record. GIRLS TRACK GIRLS VARSITY TRACK Significant improvement and in- creased participation were the ingre- dients leading to a very successful season for the team. Membership doubled and 1984's disappointing 7th place league finish became a strong 2nd place finish. Dedication, desire and cooperation enabled the team to reach its potential. No ath- lete was dominant on the team; all members made a winning contribu- tion. These girls and their teammates made hard work pay off by showing improvement throughout the season. Freshmen and sophomore athletes made big contributions and should see big success in coming years. 67 VARSITY BASEBALL The Varsity Baseball Team finished the season with a league record of 3- 11 and an overall record of 4-15. Through all the effort and hard work, injuries and other problems made this year a very challenging one. With many of the young players gain- ing experience this year, next year should be very rewarding. Members of the Team: Tim Shaver, Chris White, Gary Marckres, Tom Berrigan, Dennis Flynn, Mike Galcik, Jeff Nitsche, John Barber, Chuck Winney, T.R. Ellis, Charlie Sherman, Gordon Nygaard and Jim DeGregory. 68 SOFTBALL VARSITY • J.V. SOFTBALL The Varsity Softball Team finished with a league record of 4-10. For a team that showed much hard work, enthusiasm and optimism, the high- light of the season was an upset of previously undefeated Hoosick Falls by a score of 5-4, which proved to be the only league loss. Freshman Kelly Periard lead the team in hitting with a .441 average. Hitters over .300 were Noreen Malinoski, Mari Booth, Patty Hathaway and Wendy Hammond. Graduating seniors are Mari Booth, Diane Corlew, Wendy Hammond, Cindy Malinoski and Bernadette Sullivan. The J.V. season consisted of a young team of eleven freshmen and three sophomores. Much hard work result- ed in a 7-7 season record which in- cluded an 8-6 upset of unbeaten Hoo- sick Falls. 69 JR. HIGH TRACK 70 JUNIOR HIGH TRACK TEAMS The Girls Team completed an unde- feated 6-0 season with a win at the Schuylerville Tri-County Invitational against eight other schools. School records were set by Shannon Birch (1500 meter). Jennifer Smith, Kim Goodspeed, Bonnie Phillips. Jean- nette Swears (800 meter relay team) and Stacy Carmean (100 meter hur- dles). Undefeated athletes in their events were: Heather Kenney, Shan- non Birch and Jeannette Swears. The Boys Team ended regular sea son with a 4-2 record and second place in the Schuylerville Tri-County Invitational. TENNIS The 1985 season was the most suc- cessful in over twenty years, with a 6-3 record which tied for second place in the Northern Conference. The Team won the right, along with Lake George, to represent the league at the Sectionals. By reaching the semi finals of the league tournament, Chad Cummins was able to go to the individual Sectionals. Members were: Chad Cummins, Bob Carr, Mike Hart- shorne, Steve Rowe, Kim Carr, Amie Rowe and Robbi McIntyre. 71 FALL CANDIDS 73 FOOTBALL . . .
