To be told that life is a cycle, to understand the biological order of birth and death is of little comfort. As I grow older I hope that I can learn to accept it and maybe understand. We will miss Steve. We will miss the way he talked, the way he acted, his voice, his strut, his smile. We will never know what could have been. Steve was an athlete, a student and a friend. His tragic death shocked us all. STEVEN J. BOOTH. JANUARY 17. 1966 - JUNE 9. 1984 During our moments alone Our minds slowly wander back To the first time that we met you . . . Each of us uncertain and yet intrigued. But as the days passed. We became part of one another, Sharing our hopes, our dreams and our love. The gentleness of your touch and the warmth of your gaze filled our worlds with joy. It is in times like these, When you’re gone, That we remember just how much we love you. 6 © -. «•; _ iv A s££ rn! m -n - - § H o ' HA 3 , jS'fS s y 2 -wgSf -u- y J ; r% i ft ; 2 5 o?. « « p ’ m -. hVI: r m” Co 2i 21 _ '7L 4CC6£C fan _ ZaJULu __ . t 4 iAm .m 5L . unicorn. The 1984 girls x-country team also had an outstanding season winning the league and sectionals. They also placed eighth in Intersectionals. The team will be losing senior Michelle Trottier to graduation. CONGRATULATIONS GUYS AND GIRLS!!! The Jr. High teams were led by several of the top runners in Section II At the Galway Invitational, against most of the small schools in section II, both the Boys and Girls teams finished 1st in their division The 7th grade Boys' team completed the year undefeted in all League and Invitational meets. The 8th grade Boys’ and combined Girls' team each lost only to powerful Rutland of Vermont during the season The ten girls on the football squad braved all kinds of weather in the fall to help the football team win. Posters and signs dec- orated the halls and cafeteria. They also attended an excellent clinic to help develop their cheering. Departing seniors were captain Bernadette Sullivan, Jackie Hall, Sheila Baumgartner, Sue Pratt, Lisa Hughes, and Tracy McTygue. Basketball- J.V. and Varsity Eight girls make up the J.V. squad and eight girls are on the Varsity. This year we were pleased to have a male join us, Ray Warner. Cheerleading competitions were attended in February. Senior Cheerleaders were: Bernadette Sullivan, Jackie Hall, Sheila Baumgartner, Amie Rowe and Ray “Pop” Warner. 85 J.V. Cheerleaders 86 Michelle MiHaly, Kim Baker, Kim Carr, Cathy Gorman, Vicki Germain, Becky Sullivan, Judy Mihaly BOYS’ BASKETBALL Varsity Basketball The 1984-85 varsity basketball season has been the most competitive season since 1978. With a season record of 11 wins and 10 losses, the black horses defeated everyone in its league once, including the first place team There were over time games and numerous 1 point ball games, both won and lost by Schuylerville. The team finished fourth in league play and won its first post season game against a much taller Taconic Hills club. The season ended with a loss in the second round of the sectional tournament to a strong Saratoga Catholic team. With the success and inspiration of this year's team and a strong J.V. team, the future for Schuylerville basketball looks bright for the next couple of years. The team was primarily made up of graduating seniors Darrin Galagan. Robert Leise. Jeff Foote. Ed LeBaron, Todd McShane. and Tim Shaver will be leaving this year’s team The only returning players will be Chad Cummins, who was the team’s leading scorer, and Bill Peck, one of four sophomores that have been elevated to play on the varsity team since 1970. GIRLS’ BASKETBALL The girls Varsity Basketball team finished the season in second place in the Wasare League with a 9 5 season The team compiled an overall record of 13-5, which was good enough to re- cieve a sectional invitation for the third straight season. The team consisting of only two seniors, Sue Harris and Michelle Trottierm. had many high lights for such a young squad. The team opened the season with an impressive first place finish in the South Glens Falls Tournament. Carol Che ney was selected by the coaches as the Most Valuable Player Carol also broke the school record for most points. 1,000 points, during the last game of the season She became the second leading scorer in the history of Schuylerville Bas ketball behind Eric Stover With 2 3s of the team returning next season the team will be looking for a successful season Top N Griffen.
