GOOD CITIZEN 35 Daniel Murray Esther Gamsey Class Reviewing the past four years of high school life there have been certain scenes which especially merit themselves to notation. These have been the better times which we have enjoyed as a class. The class dances, of which we have sponsored four, were the focal point of our class participa- tion. For all these dances we express our gratitude to our class advisors, namely Mr. Nolan, who has been with us for the entirety of our high school life, and those whc5 have worked with him at different times, like Mrs. McDonough, Miss Woodward, and Mr. Archer. Hawaiian Paradise, Blue Velvet, Dutch Polenaize, and the Senior Hop all received support from the indi- vidual members of the class and many people outside, our sponsors, the industrial arts depart- ment, and the fine arts department. The Prom, Dutch Polenaize, of course, was our major opus. For a week preceeding May 7, 1965 we worked ensemble” to erect the decorations which many of our classmates had prepared beforehand. It was, indeed, quite impressive when we had it finally completed. The beauty of that evening was climaxed with the coronation of the king and queen, Bob McLoughlin and Sally Gilmore and the announcement of their court. The regal procession led them from the foyer around the windmill and to the throne, situated on the east of the gym. Apres danse” we departed for the Country Gentleman where we had a very enjoyable time. Our class has participated in many interclass activities. Numerous of our fellows have distin- guished themselves in sports: football, basketball, especially the Christmas Tournament which our school won this year, track, tennis, wrestling and weight-lifting and Playdays. The girls have been very active in this field; participation has been especially good in softball, and bas- ketball intramurals. At the playdays and invitational games the girls have had a championship team in hockey. Sally Gilmore and Laurie Martinovich represented the seniors in the cheer- leading squad. Culturally the class of 1966 has done much. The Senior band. Senior Chorus, Chansonettes, 36 History and the Characters were active in this field, The band made several field trips to hear the Marine and Navy Bands. The chorus went to Albany to attend a performance of Camelot and the comic opera La Boheme. The chorus also was honored by command performance at the Golden jubilee of the Right Reverend James A. Gazely. Members of our class of both the band and chorus have gone to the Saratoga All County Festival. Illustrated on the inside cover is the work of Craig Martin, of which we are all extremely proud. Our work, Brigadoon should be very successful and popular. Classmates in the fine arts department traveled also. The Metro- politan Museum of Art and the Hyde Collection are two which they have visited. This depart- ment made much of the scenery for Brigadoon. The entire class traveled to Burnt Hills to at- tend performances by the Company of Don Pasquale, and a string quartet, and a piano concert by Mr. Samual Lipmann. The class also saw the movies; Ben-Hur and Hamlet. Many of the senior class hold prestigious positions and others have distinguished themselves in extracurricular activities of the high school. A member of the F. H. A., Jeanette Arsenault, won the Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow Award which enables her to go on to further achievements. The F.F.A. has completed and initiated the use of the greenhouse under the direction of their president, Lyle Purinton. President Craig Martin, much assisted by his able secretary, Jane Villa led the I.R.C. in a United Nations General Assembly. The I.R.C. this year began to support a Greek orphan which we hope our successors will continue. In the world of journalism Craig Martin and Charles Wilson both have done much for the propagation and support of the school newspaper SCAN. Johnson Hall, Guy Park and Herkimer House were our high points of interest to which President Francis Robbins of the Yorker Organization has also led. The seniors have also been especially active in organizing a trip to the State Convention at Buffalo, New York, tentatively scheduled for May 5-7. Robert McLoughlin, also a president has ably led the student council during our last year. Kathy Herrick, too, has headed the ef- forts of the G. L. A. As we look back upon our four years we remember the joys, sorrows, losses and gains made dur- ing these times. We will always cherish the memory of high school as we separate to go many different paths. We have learned much and will try to keep these lessons with us. 37 Qu tc i Pe L e n a, Our Royalty It Ha 40 Been Done 41 Most Likely to Succeed Bet Dan Who’s Most Versatile Sal Bob Most Intellectual Laurie Paul Friendliest Gretch Bob Most Athletic 42 Most Courteous Barb Fran Who Most Studious Bet Dan Linda Jim Wittiest Laurie Paul Best Natured 4J Brigadoon Tommy and Fiona 'Heather on the Hill MacConnachy Square' Wedding Dance Meg Entertains in the Glen Tommy and Jane Maggie Mourns for Harry The Stage Crew 45 aith (testament Hast MtU (the Senior (t’laea of the Hillage of Schujilerbille in the County of Saratoga and State of Xetu IJork being of sound mind and memory, do make, publish and declare this our last WILL AND TESTAMENT, in man- ner following that is to say: I, PAT DERBY, leave my fond memories of Mr, Nolte’s third period History class to Patty Bouchard, I, JOHN LLOYD, leave the losingest team in gym class history to Kevin Burch. The real student whose character is expressed through his personality works with a purpose. He is willing and ready to admit errors and will seek to correct the faults of which he becomes aware. He is honest with himself and others and is true to his knowledge of right. 'Since time began there have been leaders among men. Many of these have won distinction by physical power and have maintained it by force. In this land where all men are free, there must of course be leaders, but leaders chosen by the people themselves. The power to lead is a wonderful gift if wisely used. It may lead to rebellion against law and order, or it may guide into the way of better things. ” I pledge myself to uphold the high purpose of this society to which I have been elected, striving in every way by word and deed to make its ideals the ideals of my school and of my life. 70 National Junior Honor Society J. Bean, C.- Myers, J. Coffin, K. Hoey, L. Cormie, G. Bullard, D. Mac Dougall, K. Hanehan, M. Gilmore, M. Noire, A. Arnold, R. Mitchell, S. Pratt, R. Lang. Blessed is the man that findeth wisdom and is rich in understanding. Wisdom is the principal thing, and with thy wisdom get understanding. Learning furnishes the lamp by which we read the past and the light which illumines the future. Service to others gives us the highest form of happiness in this world. To aid those in need, to help ease the pain of the world, to be a friend to the friendless is the aim of the unselfish. Selfishness is the great sin of the world. The cure for selfishness is service to others. Nature shows us the way. Youth, may these words ring in your ears; may their meaning be indelibly written in your hearts so that you may go forth into the world to be, to know, to serve, and to lead for good. 71 s R S E R V I C E FIRST ROW: M. The painting is the result of almost two years ’ work, and is situated on the east wall of the auditorium. The painting represents the physical and spiritu- al nature of man. Everyone makes his own decision as to exactly what it depicts. He was despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief .
