The program carried out by the school nurse includes that of rendering first aid, assisting at physical inspec- tion, giving eye and ear screening tests, notifying parents of any defects found and doing attendance supervision. In addition to the full-time school nurse, the Coopera- tive Board of Education provides the services of a school nurse one day a week and a dental hygienist one semester. The school physician is employed by the Board of Education to do physical inspection of all the students and to act in an advisory capacity in all school health problems. .-MISS M. L. It is my pleasure and privilege to extend to each and every one of you sincere congratulations from the members of the Board of Education, the teachers, and other personnel of Schuylerville Central School. During your elementary and secondary school years, your lives have been made happier by sacrificing and loving parents; your educational burdens have been lightened by helpful and understanding teachers, and your paths brightened by friendly and congenial classmates. All of us rejoice with you upon your successful completion of your high school program. Regardless of where you go after graduation, we trust you will carry with you the fine moral and spiritual values of your homes, and the high social and educational standards of your school. An honest, trustworthy, religious, ana morally sound way of life has long symbolized the real American way, and we must all vigorously defend and live these basic principles in our every day life by our words, deeds, and actions if we are to combat the apparent disregard of sound, moral and ethical standards that has rocked and shocked our nation. Your Board of Education, teachers, bus drivers, cafeteria workers, custodians, office personnel, nd all associated with the Schuylerville Central School wish you happiness. We invoke God’s blessing upon you believing that through His guidance you will continue to live abundant and fruitful lives. The school and oilice doors will always be open to you. Come in to see us. Schuylerville, we love you. To us you mean so much. We pray we’ll have the courage To fling your colors high. In this world of sports and studies We’ll do our best to win The highest name and honor That there’s ever, ever been. When at last we’ve said goodbye To the many friends we’ve made. May we be all the better For our happy high school days. And when we get downhearted And everything goes wrong. The thoughts of our old Schuylerville Make everything a song. His most illustri ous day was against Argyle when he scored four touch- downs on long runs and threw two completed passes on point after touchdown attempts. Henry Royal: averaged 11 points per game —threw six touchdown passes during the sea- son—good blocker and a fine defensive player. Henry’s best day came in the game against Hoosick Falls when he scored four touchdowns (three on runs—one on a pass play) and passed for two more touchdowns. W. LAVOY Co-Captain TEAM-k GaVoy, H. There were eight returning lettermen from the previous season who had seen a great deal of action in addition to a host of good prospects up from the J. V.’s. The Black Horses winged away to a fast start by winning the first four games but dropped two league games before the second semester began to remain in a three way tie for first place. The remainder of the season will determine if early season prophecies will ma- terialize and only the strong spirited, never say die attitude of all Schuylerville athletes will determine their final league standing. The International Relations Club of the Schuylerville Central School was founded three years ago. In this short time, it has grown in size and now includes over fifty members. The Club enjoys many interesting activities. Its main purpose has been to stimulate the interest of Juniors and Seniors in world events. In achieving this aim we try to use many different methods to help us reach an understanding of some of the many problems of our fellow students the world over. Our club meetings are chiefly devoted to the preparation and presentation of group discussions on many current topics. We were hosts in the fall of 1953 to over one hundred eighty high school students, members of this area Interscholastic Forum. Much time and energy went into the preparation of this event and every member of the club participated in some way in making the day a real success. We have sponsored assembly programs in which we have brought to the student body people who have traveled and observed the peoples and conditions in other countries. We attend meetings in the Capitol District which are of interest both in national and world affairs such as the campaign rallies in the Presidential Campaign of 1952 in which we saw and heard Candidate Adlai Stevenson and our present President Dwight D. Eisenhower. The Schenectady League of Women Voters sponsored a pro- gram at Union College in which Eric Larabee, an authority on Africa, spoke. We have attended the Skidmore Radio Forums. This year we have inaugurated an evening meeting once a month. We have had exchange programs with other Clubs, and we have entertained Exchange Students attending schools in this area at these meetings. Movies, film strips, recordings and current magazine articles have been most helpful as enrichment for these meetings. Then, too, the social program after our regular meetings has always provided an opportunity for an exchange of ideas and a chance for better understanding of our own as well as the problems of other foreign students. It is our hope for this year that a group of our members under the leadership of this years’ officers will be able to attend a meeting at the UN General Assembly in New York City. We feel that our club provides a definite opportunity for the student to broaden his own ideas and a chance to come to more fully understand the tremendous role the United States has assumed as the leader of the free men of the world.
