He taught 'Fifth grade at Washington Elementary School and eighth and ninth grade English, history and math at Montebello 'Junior High. Among her many duties as Girls' Vice Principal, she con- trols the problems of girls, takes charge of the cafeteria and plans and supervises assemblies, Before coming to Schurr, Mrs, Foster was a coun- selor at Montebello High and prior to that she was a home economics teacher. When there is tree time in her busy schedule, Mrs. Foster enioys skiing, read- ing, sewing and working in her yard. 3

Best wishes for the future. Clyde M. Carlton Lfmdff W 4 Since 1962, when Schurr opened, Clyde M. Carlton has been our principal. Graduating from Fairfax High, Mr. Carlton worked for three years on a highway construction crew. He then attended and graduated from Pomona College, after realizing the great importance of an education. He also holds a Master's Degree from Claremont College Graduate School and has also done some graduate work at U.S.C. Mr. Carlton has taught English, social studies, boy's glee and P.E. in the Montebello schools and has been either a teacher or vice principal at Monte- bello Junior, Eastmont Junior, Bell Gardens Junior, and Bell Gardens Senior before becoming principal and organizer of Schurr. His understanding of others, his sense of humor and his love of life continue to inspire all who knew him.
