OUPJ PRINCIPAL Message to Students I am pleased to congratulate the vast majority of you who have contributed so much in advancing the high stand- ards of accomplishment in our school. Because of this contribution of work, enthusiasm and service, you have grown physically, matured mentally and emotionally and are becoming con- tributing members of our community. Best wishes for the future. Clyde M. Carlton Lfmdff W 4 Since 1962, when Schurr opened, Clyde M. Carlton has been our principal. Graduating from Fairfax High, Mr. Carlton worked for three years on a highway construction crew. He then attended and graduated from Pomona College, after realizing the great importance of an education. He also holds a Master's Degree from Claremont College Graduate School and has also done some graduate work at U.S.C. Mr. Carlton has taught English, social studies, boy's glee and P.E. in the Montebello schools and has been either a teacher or vice principal at Monte- bello Junior, Eastmont Junior, Bell Gardens Junior, and Bell Gardens Senior before becoming principal and organizer of Schurr. HARVEY A. LEE - June 6,l9l5-Mayl8, i968 An outstanding teacher - a loving husband and father - a loyal and dependable friend. His understanding of others, his sense of humor and his love of life continue to inspire all who knew him.
