Cafeteria D. Liberty, D. Kirkwood, C. DeZalia, C. Moses. During the year, our caf- eteria is a very popular place for the student body, especially this year, when all students 7-12 are eating at the same time. At the beginning of the year, lines have' a tendency to be very long. However, in the spring when weather becomes warmer, students would rather be outside en- joying the sun. 12

Academics At the beginning of the year many students set their own goals that they wish to accomplish through out the year. Many strive and meet their academic goals and are a success such as our fellow class- mate, Jim Mingo, while others continue to work towards success. Students Work For Perfection The Bausch Lomb Science Award James Mingo was nam- ed winner of the 1980-81 Bausch Lomb Science Award at Schroon Lake High School. The Science Award - a handsome bronze medal - is presented each year to winners at more than 8,500 participating schools throughout the United States anc Canada. Mingo is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Mingo of Schroon Lake. “The Bausch Lomb Science Award is especially significant,” ac- cording to David Farn- sworth, Superintendent, “because it recognizes the senior student at our school who has attained the highest scholastic standing in science sub- jects.” Mingo’s final exam marks have included 96% in general science, 100% in the biology Regent ex- am, and 96% in the chemistry regents exam. As winner of the award, Mingo is eligible to com- pete for one of several four-year Bausch Lomb Science Scholarships at the University of Rochester, Rochester, N.Y. Scholarship winners are selected on merit, and stipends, based on need, could range up to $4,500 per year. Surveys indicate that the Award has en- couraged more than 30 percent of the winners to follow scientific careers. Bausch Lomb, with headquarters in Rochester is a world-wide manufacturer of vision care products and scien- tific instruments. 14
