SPECIAL TRIBUTES We the seniors wish you Mr. Kedmenec the best of luck in your retirement. After 30 years of teaching, you could not have picked a better class to leave with; that is the class of 1980. The students and faculty of Schroon Lake Central wish to thank you for your time and devotion you have given for the past 18 years. Good luck and best of wishes always. We Seniors will always remember you by, Love-dove-sugar-lump-lump. SPECIAL THANKS The Seniors would like to express their gratitude to Mr. and Mrs. Ambrosini for their help and guidance through our High School years. Mr. A., we really appreci- ate all your time you have given us. We bet you couldn't have thought of a better class than ours to start out your first years teaching at S.L.C.S. 3 M. Bessey, M. Burke, T. Stowell, Mr. Glebus, D. Ryder, L. Ingalls, C. Lashway, J. Johnson F. Williford Organization Editors C. Leavitt C. Lashway Photo Editor Business Manager-F. Williford Jack Johnson Index Editor D. Parker The layout for a yearbook is no easy jot if you ask any staff member. It takes an I entire year to gather all the required pic- i tures and necessary information. Neverthe- less, it is interesting ? nd enjoyable as well as rewarding to know that once it is publi- shed the students of Schroon Lake Central will be able to reminisce what student life j was actually like, that is their friends, sports, organizations, etc. For the pub- lication of the Yearbook of 1980 special recognition must be given to those staff members who put forth the most effort into making this book a success. Your time and effort and most of all their responsibility to be at desiginated meetings and to do their assigned job is deeply respected and appre- ciated. Honorable mention must be given to, Carol Leavitt, Mary Bessey, Kris McCoy, Cindy Lashway, Donna Ryder, Patty Wilber and Frances Williford. Their outstanding contribution in the publishing of this yearbook deserves high acclaim. ADVERTISING AND PROMOTION MANAGERS' K. Dobbel C. Howe K. McCoy L. Ingalls P. Wilber Old South Schroon school house was built in 1907 which was located behind Ken Locke's gas station Since becoming Guidance Counsel- or in 1956 I have enjoyed working and placing many students from S.L.C.S. It is a great pleasure to see these students develop over the years and go on to the future. Superintendent: Mr. Farnsworth Administration r PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE Whether on the local or inter- national level, it appears that the 1980's will present us with challenging political, economic and social issues. Each of you graduating this year has had an opportunity to develop yourselves through your education at Schroon Lake in preparation for the 1980's, In the process of your classroom education, if you've learned how to think clearly, make decisions, weigh all sides of issues and determine your personal values, then you and all those around you will benefit. Assistant Principal: Mr. Werner Guidance Counselor School Clerk: Mrs. Morissey I have enjoyed working at Schroon Lake Central School for the past nine years. My job as secretary here at Schroon Lake Central School is a very hard one to try to brie- fly describe. We'll remember the good times and some of the bad. We'll remember standing in the corner and some, of the fights We've had. We'll remember the gum we wore on our nose And instead of cartoons, educational shows. The laughter of our young loves faded into tears of broken Hearts, when our high school years began and our more serious Loves start, Our high school years have brought us closer than Ever before. The responsibilities we encounter will open up to us new Doors. The dance and the parties and field trips far away, made Life much more exciting than our elementary days. Our class rings were delivered and we showed them off with Pride, and the annual Junior-Senior dinner has finally Arrived. The Lasagna was eaten, the wills and phrophecies read. And all were anxious to get started, on to the party that Lay ahead. Next came the prom, in its sparkling array, But no one Looked forward to the clean up the next day. Our Senior year has now arrived with decisions to be made On colleges, Armed Services or setting the wedding date Graduation day now grows near. Strive for success to be Yours. Do in your life what you like to do and you'll be happy Evermore . V HONORS: S.T.U.C.O. There was a buffet dinner served and after, dancing. The theme was Freebird and the room was decorated in blue and silver. The band was the 4j's who kept us entertained all evening. Everyone was either dressed in long or short dresses or tuxedos and suits. Everyone awaited the crowning of the royal couples with enth- usiam. The moment arrives and Prince-Steven Bogle and Prince- ss-Mary Lou Bessey are crowned first. We'd like to thank Mary Bessey for her short moment of entertainment by dropping the carnation on the floor that was to be pinned on Steve. Then the King-D.J. Slowek and Queen-Cindy DeZalia were crowned. After the excitement was over the Class of 1980 gathered for a group picture and then back to the dance floor. There were two door prizes given out which were hanging mobiles and were won by Jennifer and John 3urdick. We would like to thank everyo- ne that helped to make the prom a success. We would like to es- pecially like to thank Mr. and Mrs. Ambrosini for there moment on the dance floor alone. Cast Of Characters L Haversham....... Mabel Dupre..... Miss Maple...... Rollerskating was held every Tuesday, September througn October. All grades participated and along with the students many of the community members joined in the fun. In spite of all the bumps and bruises everyone got along well and had a good time. Besides giving us a beat to 3oogie by the people of Verville Rollerskating from Plattsburg, New York also entertained us with a light show. To make things inter- esting and to loosen up the crowd on the floor at one time they provided us with an assortment of different skating events. Such as all girls skate or only couples, and many others. The majority of music they played was rock-n-roll or disco. This went over well with everyone. The rollerskating was a senior fund raiser but we had a lot of fun I in the process. Il979 Graduation! Graduation is a time of life v e look forward to with antici- pation and apprehensiveness. We are glad to be over what we consider the most difficult time of our life. We met our friends and developed friendships that we would remember the rest of our lives. W'e did things that we will always laugh or cry at. Our school years were the easiest years we'll ever experience. Th orr s w TTacn er ar none to be compared to. the ones we will have in years to come. Some of us will go to college some in the service and even a few will probably get married. We’ll have to worry who will pay the bills and where the money to pay for them v ill come from. We'll have responsibili- ties upon us now and we hope the years we've spent in Schroon Lake Central School will have prepared us to handle them in Many different paths lie before us a new mysterious world is waiting ne in which we know little about. We are ready to move on! • v r ' -i 4c v.. . • '•' 'V- fj ' V‘ 3  ' ' â– e i. r t . . . . â– SUV ' ' i - .'v: L A v VVtl â– 00 • mi
