WILDCAT 9.................FACULTY 19..............SENIORS 27..............FAVORITES 33..............CLASSES 39..........ORGANIZATIONS 43............ATHLETICS 53.............ACTIVITIES 61 ADVERTISERS DEDICATION The members of the Class of 1968 wish to dedicate their yearbook to Mrs. Gregory as an expression of thanks for her interest in them with hopes that her devotion will serve as an inspiration to others. Mr. Mousaw, during his term as District Superintendent, was instrumental in the centralization of the Schroon-North Hudson School Districts. His un- tiring efforts made possible the facilities we now enjoy. The education of the children of this area was a life’s work for Mr. Mousaw. 3 IN MEMORIAM For several years, Mr. Lawrence Jacobs contributed his time and efforts as a member of the Board of Ed- ucation. Through the devotion of men like Mr. Jacobs, our school is one of which the entire community is proud. SPECIAL TRIBUTE The Class of 1968 pays special tribute to Mr. Weed, who struggled with us during our first years of high school. His presence encouraged us to strive to fulfill our goals. 4 PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE To the Class of 1968: For the past thirteen years you have been striving to receive the basic education which will enable you to successfully face the future either in further education or directly into employment. The amount of time and effort you have spent may very well determine how well you will do. It is the hope of the faculty and myself that all of our efforts plus yours and your parents will have prepared and stimulated you to go on to far greater heights. A TRIBUTE The Class of 1968 wishes to thank Mr. and Mrs. Flynn for their time and their efforts spent in making our high school years mem- orable and successful. ALMA MATER On the hill above the lakeside Caressed by wind and sun, Stands our well loved alma mater As she yields her palms to none. To her ever we'll be loyal We'll shout her praises still; And we'll lift the white and crimson And uphold it with a will. We shall wander in life's journeys Afar from dear old Schroon We shall drift beyond the mountains And must face the foe too soon; But the days we've spent together Will cheer us for the fight; And we'll conquer in life's battles Neath the crimson and the white. 6 We would like to thank all those who made this year's edition of the Wildcat” possible. The satisfaction we have gained from our efforts toward this book make it well worth the time we spent.” Joan Richardson BUSINESS MANAGER Jill Harris EDITOR-IN-CHIEF WILDCAT” STAFF L. to R.: Matoaka Eagle, Copy Editor; Louise Potter, Advertising Editor; Joann Beck, Treasurer; Jill Harris, Editor-in-Chief; David Tyrrell, Art Editor; Joan Richardson, Business Manager; Christine Dumas, Subscrip- tion Manager; Joseph Storey, Photo Editor; William Burke, Photo Editor. 7 COOKS L. to R.: K. A pause, then Voices, small and suppressed. The Voices of Youth grow strong and defiant from heat of summer, And firmly he leads onward, never stopping to look back, Freedom is his, he, too young to care. Autumn abruptly pushes Youth aside. And Wisdom replaces innocent Youth with matured voices of nations. Carefully now he listens and distinguishes. Winter now creeps slowly onward. And now the Voices speak slow and methodically. And then, Death has triumphed again. For the first time in our school’s history we captured the Mountain and Valley League Title. Defeating every team, including Westport, at least once we finished with a League record of 10 wins and 2 defeats. There were really no weak points on this team, having a potent offense and an iron-tight defense. This team is to be congratulated for its desire, teamwork and spirit. Our de- voted Coach, Mr. Speziali, should also be congratulated for shaping these boys into a polished squad. 44 LEAGUE CHAMPIONS L. to R. STANDING: T. Potter (Manager), M. Hall, R. Metthe, P.
