DEDICATION It is a distinct privilege for us, the Recall Staff of 1955-56, to dedicate the 1956 RECALL to Colonel Raymond Orr, U.S.A., Ret., Professor of Military Science and Tactics at Schreiner institute for the past nine years. His sincere interest in the students who have been in his classes, his willingness to help those who have found themselves in dif- ficulty, and his own example of the highest possible sense of duty and integrity have won him a place unique in the hearts of literally hundreds of Schreiner Cadets and ex-students. To be selected for Who's Who at Schreiner is an honor, and we are proud of these young men. F Q '- 4 av lv ,J A X11 4 THIS IS AN ENTIRELY NEW activity at Schreiner, and one we hope will be- come an annual occasion. ACTIVITY DAY, MARCH 2 celebration of Texas Independence Day, was the idea and project of the Student Council, under the leadership of President Bob Barton, and that group did an excellent job in drawing up a schedule of events and seeing to it that they were carried through with smoothness and efficiency. THE DAY'S SCHEDULE THIS year opened with an address by Glenn Petsch, Kerr County attorney and former Schreiner student, before an assembly in the school auditorium. After lunch, students participated in a full schedule which included platoon competition in close-order drill, inter-dormitory track and field ACTIVITY DAY Mr. Johnson sf MARCH 2 contests, a tug-o'-war, and the privilege of attending supper in non-reg clothing. After supper, there was a strictly amateur basketball game between the non- athletes of Hoon Hall and South Barracks, boxing, and a dance with music pro- vided bythe alternating orchestral sounds of the Schreiner Dance.Bancl and Bob the Hick Bar1'on's western music group. WE FEEL THAT THIS year's Activity Day adequately fulfilled its purpose: to provide a break in the long period between the Christmas holidays and Easter vacation. It was one of the outstanding contributions made in the course of the year to campus life. wr, , ,. . .., 'ii' '. - u. and friends. --w.
