Kelly's thinly-clads has been indicated so far to point toward a very satisfactory, if not brilliant, track and field season for Schreiner lnstitute. Eight meets were scheduled for the Kellymen, and in this itinerary the Mountaineers were to meet the best among Texas sprinters. Last year's cham- pion of the T. I. C. A. C., Schreiner this year is competing for- the first time in the South- western lunior College Conference. Largely responsible for the lnstitute's track successes last year were two dependable winners, the fleet Billy Gibson, who specializes in distance races, and lanky lack Lucas, who high jumps, hurdles, and even broad jumps and runs a mean 440-yard dash. Lucas and Gibson to- gether accounted for 283f4 of Schreiner's Win- ning 341f2 points at the conference meet last year. At press time the Kellymen had corn- peted in four meets, giving a good account of themselves in each, and were to run in four more meets concluding their season with the conference meet in Kilgore.
