LINK TRAINER and STAMP CLUB 1954 marks the tenth anniversary of the Link Trainer, which was formed for the purpose of increas- ing the knowledge of students interested in flying. Each semester Mr. Mclllhenny has taught approx- imately twenty amateur birdmen the use of radio sys- tems and controls in the air. Although these novices receive their training wholly on the ground, they get a good idea of the basic principles of flying. As an added stimulus to instruction, the club was invited this year to see the link trainer room of Pan American World Airways at the La Guardia Airport and Special Devices Center at Sands Point. Patty Lynch JCo! Ohe Philatelist The Stomp Club was organized this year to further interest in stamp collecting among the students. Judg- ing by its enthusiasm it looks as though this club is here to stay for its members have spent an enjoyable and profitable year trading stamps and learning many interesting facts about their favorite hobby. Should you wish to join this active group next year you may contact the prime movers of the organiza- tion. The members of the club were President, John Fos- ter; Vice President, Arthur Mittlestoedt, Secretary- Treasurer, Bill Davis; Faculty Adviser, Mr. Smith. Sherry Walther 25

PROJECTION and P. A. Very RJy The Projection Club is a unique organization of the school. The club composed of both boys and girls operates somewhat like the Sons of Liberty with no large meetings and no officers. Small groups of mem- bers get together to discuss their problems. To qualify as a projector operator each member must pass a test When the four chimes ring out each day at the end of third period not many people know just who is flipping the switches and adjusting the rheostats. The unsung heroes, the men of electronics who handle the technical end of our daily P.A. programs, really do deserve a tremendous amount of credit. Led off by Neil Watson you will find George Connor, Frank Bax- ter, Zippy Zirpolo, and many others fiddling with the dials, mikes, and adjusters here at Port High. Here's hoping that 1955 will have a group as help- ful and efficient as these loyal lads have been this year. David Kane on the machinery. Under the excellent tutelage of Mr. Young the faculty adviser, the club is rapidly achieving its goal of having an operator in every class. Michael McCaskey vac o- Adi ue 24
