BAND This has been the first attempt in recent years to have Xa band at The School of the Ozarks. The ten instruments left over from years ago were sadly in need of repair at the beginning of the year. Repairs were made, however, four students bought their own instruments, a few new ones were added, and the band started practices on November 1. By the end of the year seventeen instruments composed the band, it had given several programs, and had competed in the White River musical festival, receiving a rating of HG . Under the direction of Mr. Turpin and with its enthusiasm we pre- dict a great year for this band in 1939-40.

JUNIOR BOYS BASKET BALL TEAM Before volley ball was over, we started building for a basketball team. Though we had good matierial to start with, soon we were down to ten men. Our first game, with Reed's Springs, on our own court, we lost by two points. We lost the next two games. In our first game with Branson we did quite well the first three quarters but weakened in the last quarter and lost by four points. After Christmas we made a New Year's resolution not to lose any games this year, and we did quite well for sometime, rolling up a winning streak of five games. We entered two tournaments this year and won the sportsmanship prize in botlh. Also we placed Claude Mo-yer on the all-star team in the Crane tourney. No more games were won after these tournaments. Three men on the first team graduate this year, but we have some good scrubs coming up. We have been dubbed The One or Two Point Team this year, be- cause we lost so many games by either one or two points. '
