MATHEMATICS 2 x 2 : 4-Yes, we learned this at S. of O. it it isn't all that simple. We studied Algebra Ld Geometry under Mr. Cave and Mrs. Good: en came Math III, Physics and other higher ' udies. A11 of us have taken some course in athmetics. We hope this will in some way con- y ho Mrs. Good and Mr. Cave that, tho-ugh we metimes really were dumber than we looked, a have appreciated their efforts. Is this Mrs. Good? Why, nog it's Sun- shine , the one who drives the clouds away for the whole campus. When you hear a cheery laugh and a bright remark passing down the hall, you can know its Sunshine -the perfect hostess when it falls her lot to entertain friends of the School, the perfect mother when Bobby skins his kneeg and a perfect playmate when she mingles with the boys and girls. We, the seniors, take off our hats to you, Sunshine , in praise and tribute. We'll miss you when we're gone. MRS. R. M. GOOD

CARL CAVE Christian ideals and principles were the foundation of our early church, our nation and its democracy. An early philosopher wrote that states are what they are because its citizens are what they are. Education should unfold these given qualities in boys and girls which make them useful citizens to the country. To strive against obstacles is the lot of all who achieve. Anything gained without effort and sacrifice is seldom, if ever, a prized and worthwhile possession. Seeking for power, material gain, or world acclaim, too often finds us, in the end, like the ocean which beads itself against the rocky shores and leaves nothing but the foam of endeaver. If knowledge be real, put it forth from thee. A new light will rise on thee in the doing of all things.

COMMERCIAL VIRGINIA TRUE Take a letter, please. No, you are not in the presidents office but rather in the commer- cial department where a number of boys and girls are learning the principles of business. Now, as the year is drawing to a close, those twenty-odd typewriters are clicking much fast- er than they did several months ago. And prob- ably those minds bent earnestly on bookkeeping or business arithmetic are much clearer on those subjects than they were at the beginning of the year. Students from this department, which is sponsored, as you have already learned, by Mr. Joseph Ashcroft, are working in the oilices of the School, and many of them will find work in the commercial field when they leave S. of O. Mr. Floyd O. Harvey, who was our instruct- or for a number of years, is not with us now, bu1 We have our Miss True, who is a very competen1 and capable. i
