CLASS HISTORY September (’84) Nineteen of us new students arrived at NAM School of Practical Nursing not knowing what was ahead of us. October We received our first progress report and our first day off which we all needed and very much deserved by this time. November November came, and we got our uniforms. It made us all feel official. We also had our bazaar which was successful. As a class we made a quilt, and it turned out nice. We hosted a Thanksgiving Dinner for the hospital staff. December The staff gave us a Christmas party, and we exchanged gifts and played games. We all had a lot of fun. We also had a much needed vacation. January Back again! We had our pre-clinical evaluation which was the start of the true test. February It was the beginning of reality. We were getting up earlier in the mornings to be at the hospital. March It’s Spring! It is now time for case studies! “The hypo-critical event of the year was when we invited the seniors of the lo¬ cal high schools to come to open house” (Mrs. Ashton). April “Another month of trials and tribulations” (Mrs. Scofield). We are getting itchy feet now — graduation is in sight. May The convention was held on May 9 at the Chamberlain Hotel in Hampton, VA. “Boy, were we bored” (Mrs. Spence)! Then we ate at the Red Lobster, and that was not much better. The Nursing Home — What an experience! June We practiced our injections on each other — What a day! — but there were no tears. There was also a picnic at Smith’s Beach given by the hospital. July IT IS COUNT DOWN TIME!! August Round up time. We all have been waiting for this month to arrive — the end of a long, long year. “Thank you Lord” (Miss Spady)! Brenda Spady Class Historian 26
