We thank her for the patience and understanding she has shown us. We could not have made it through the year without her friendship and sense of humor. She is one of the many who has helped us achieve our goal and we will always be grateful. Special Appreciation Mrs. Doutt — a truly interested person in our school who will be greatly missed. Mrs. Duer — for assisting with getting all those TEST together on time — because NOW we know we could not have gotten through without them. Mrs. Lambert and Mrs. Tilghman — for helping us get off to a good start in the clinical area. 3 Mrs. Georgia M. Guy R.N. Director Mrs. Margaret Holland R.N. Do you like the things that life is showing you? Where are you going to? Do you know? Do you get what you’re hoping for? When you look behind you there’s no open door. What are you hoping for? Do you know? Once we were standing still in time, chasing the fantasies that filled our minds. And you knew how I loved you, but my spirit was free; laughing at the questions that you once asked of me. Do you know where you’re going to? Do you like the things that life is showing you? Where are you going to? Do you know? Now looking back at all we planned, we let so many dreams just slip through our hands. Why must we wait so long before we see how sad the answers to those questions can be? Susan Snyder Bernard Bloxom, Virginia Cheryl Denise Clayton Exmore, Virginia • . A- ' . - ' A ' v ' . • V ' ' W- September — We began our year on Monday, the 15th, with 28 students.. Everything was so new those first few days, no one seemed to worry about the long stretch ahead of us. There was a distinct smell of school days in the air and — . everyone was ready to meet the challenge full force. 33 - October — We held class elections and began our birthday parties — one for each month. We lost 1 student. On the 24th, we got our first report card. Everyone began striving for those 90 average days off. ’ November — on the 7th, we learned to fold our caps, and started wearing our un- - iforms on the 10th. Work on our bazaar and annual was started. Our class pic-_ ' Tures were taken. On the 26th, we had a covered dish Thanksgiving party ©ecember — We had our big money-making project, the bazaar. The main events of this were Raggedy Ann and Andy, and the stuffed monkey. By thissv time, everyone was definitely ready for our Christmas break. January — This was a big month. We returned to school with what felTIike a fresh start for the new year. The big clencher was our pre-clinical evaluation On ; the 15th, which left us with 19 students. Our anticipation rose for our first diit ? ' day on Thursday, the 22nd. February — This was our injection month. Needles, needles everywhere. And no ._ sb- one passed out. We felt right proud when the teachers said how pleased they were that there had been no fist fights so far this year. On the 21st, the D.A. came to visit the class on a suspected drug bust. You would have thought it was an.r f ' alcohol bust. _ March — We spent some wonderful days at the Nursing Home. We also had a Y aghetti dinner to make money. V iV-V ' ' . ' ' , April — Mrs. Guy gave us our phone number where we could be reached at the convention. It was passed on to all the necessary people by midnight. We par- : feipated at the Health Fair on April 4th. We attended the Convention in Roanoke. We elected Mrs. Parks to write 4 AdVIay _-asummary on the day’s agenda. Our T-shirts arrived. ' TJhne — Mrs. Tilghman and Mrs. Lambert were given a farewell party. We were N eally sorry to see our clinical instructors leave us. , 3Muly — Our experience to Eastern State made a big impression. Some of us fill g out our applications on the way home. I, Susan Bernard, leave my faithful shadow to someone who has a lot more patience than I did. I, Denise Clayton, leave my backstroke and my willpower to anyone who needs it. I, Tara Smith, bequeath all my tears to the ones in next year’s class who miss their boyfriends. I, Faith Harris, leave the ability to live in the dorm the first five months of school to next k4 year’s homesick live-in students. I, Lynn James, leave my aunt, Mrs. Guy to the biggest complainer of the class. I, Christina Lemieus, leave her nurse’s aide pin to one of the dropouts. I, Carol Mears, leave my ability to keep my shoes looking polished. I, Margaret Price, leave Nassawadox. I, Jan Lewis, leave all my troubles, aches, pains, and excess of fifty pounds in hopes that next year’s class never finds them. I, Patty Smith, leave all of my nicknames (Patty Poo, Cow Patty, Patella, and Telia) here at the NAM School of Nursing. I, Cindy Snyder, bequeath to next year’s students my ability to always be in trouble and never know why I’m there. Kathy Wallace, leave the meal ticket I could never keep up with and her extra fifteen pounds to next year’s leanest student. I, Ginny Parks, leave my cold heart to next year’s student with a “I dont give a s_t” at¬ titude. I, Leigh Young, leave a sense of humor, a month of R R, and the knowledge you’ve got it all together — just remember where you put it! Anna Goneau, to exist on four hours of sleep — YOU’LL NEED IT!!! BB is no good with money. Thank heavens for Mrs. Duer. I 17 18 I’m really not sure but I think . . . My hands were made for better things . . . Like bedpans? No, it’s not the cafeteria. Mrs. James is really cooking. I always get challenging chores. Lynn, Ginny Cindi Turning Japanese. 19 Actually . . . It’s time to leave. May we please have a moment of silent prayer!? As the saying goes . . . “Simple things for simple minds.” Look who’s laughing EXres anyone know where I can find Mrs. Bernard? What is Tara doing now!? 20 I wonder how it feels. Don’t ask me, I just study here. I j But what is this for?! Why does Mrs. Lemieux look so dazed?
