Text from Pages 1 - 44 of the 1979 volume:

THE LONGEST WALK NICE WAY TO START THE DAY Sometimes this walk is the longest mile, But we try to meet it with a smile. We know our job is waiting there, And we can help someone because we care. With God’s help to show the way, It really is a nice way to start the day! Now, the longest mile is a nice long walk, As friends go together and share pleasant talk. There we work with others with the same type goals; Bringing relief to our patients’ minds, bodies and souls. With God’s help to show the way, It really is a nice way to start the day! The memories will last our whole life through, As we travel down the path with skies both dark blue. Our jobs are many — not only giving pills, But caring for the patient’s numerous ills. With God’s help to show the way, It really is a nice way to start the day! i Mr. George W. Young Superintendent of Northampton County Schools Mr. Phillip B. Tankard Superintendent of Accomack County School DEDICATION We the class of 1979 would like to dedicate our yearbook to: Mr. George W. Young Mr. Phillip B. We were soon caught in an avalanche of textbooks and . . . Everyone worked so hard during November for our Christmas Bazaar which raised the money for our an¬ nual convention in Virginia Beach in April. December arrived and so did our student uniforms, so from here on everyone would like alike. Christmas brought a much needed respite from classes and some new diamond rings (engagement type). January brought our first days in the hospital — everyone was nervous, but we had no fatalities. February brought the Med-Surg I exam. March brought a whole lot of wind ... April brought us to Virginia Beach and the Cavalier for Convention. May brought the Health Fair with people squeezed together like sardines. June brought the beach party and a lot of studying. July and August brought exams exams exams August also brought graduation on the 29th. October will bring State Boards. November will bring? Do You Remember? Joyce getting locked in the closet? Barbara — “I’m going to fail this test!” Charlotte — “I’ll never make it!” Theresa — “Do you think we’ll get out early today?” Terri C. — Breaking dates with T.K. Mary Ellen — “Who put this pencil on my desk?” Trudi — “This test is all listing! Marian — “That’s not what I told you, Pitt!” Rose — “I’ve studies all night and I’m hyper.” Wanda — “I can’t find my homework.” Jean — “Now what did Martini say about that?” Terri S. — “This test isn’t going to be hard.” Kathy — “Has the submarine come in?” Mary Murray — “Have you seen my glasses?” Pam — “I wish today was Friday!” Mary K. — “Have you seen Gary today?” Marion S. — “My brothers said ...” Becky — “Have you got your class dues?” Anne — Orphan Annie calling Poochie Mrs. Guy — “Wake up, Mrs. Bonniwell!” Mrs. Mapp — “Will you all e v e r learn to chart?” Mrs. Holland — “Now what are the signs of shock?” Mrs. Duer — “Tuesday lunch is deadline for meal tickets.” The fire alarm at 2:00 A.M.? The saran wrap on the toilet seats? The greased door-knobs? Eva Lee — “No, Vernon, you can’t go fishing today!” Mrs. Doutt — Do you remember the crocheting crocheting crocheting? Mrs. Smith — “My Will, My Norma, My Beth” 12 LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT I, Charlotte Abrams, leave all the OB textbooks for a bonfire for the class of 1980. I, Pam Beasley, leave behind all the boxes of Kleenex I have used this year to next year’s live-in students, providing they are just as homesick as I was. I, Wanda Bonniwell, leave my ability to appreciate art to next year’s class for whom Mrs. Holland will draw gall bladders. Also, I leave my seat in Mrs. Guy’s office to the student with math inability. To Mrs. Mapp, I leave my foolish ways behind. I, Terri Lynne Carew, leave my ability to throw temper tantrums and leave room 6 to party in dur¬ ing study hours. I, Trudi Bozman, leave the phone booth to all the sweethearts of next year’s class. I, Rose Conner, leave to the next class my chair in the bathroom in case you should need to fer¬ tilize your brains. I, Mary Kay Downing, leave the mystery and whereabouts of the “Stubby little pencils” to next year’s Sherlock Holmes. I, Teresa Forbes, leave my front row seat in Nursing Arts to next year’s “guinea pig” for Mrs. Mapp’s demonstrations. I, Mary Horner, leave room 7 just as fast as I can pack a suitcase and go. I, Kathy Lankford, leave my ability to fuss and give orders to the next year’s nurses. I, Marian Martinez, am leaving anything I can’t take with me. I, Joyce Mitchell, leave my seat in the back of the room to next year’s tallest person. I, Mary Ellen Murray, leave everything I’ve left behind — books, pencils, glasses, shoes, etc., etc. I, Barbara Murrin, being of tacky mind body leave my tacky Xmas ornaments to next year’s tacky student; and also, my tacky Med-Surg notebook to the next student with a faster pen than I have. I, Jean Pitt, leave my saying, “Only the strong survive” to next year’s class. I, Marion Satchell, being of sound mind and body leave next year’s live-in students the ability to kill bugs. I, Becky Smith, leave a bundle of patience for next year’s annual staff; also, I leave my position as class treasurer to any one who is brave enough to take it. I, Terri Stancil, leave the anxiety of waiting to receive a telephone call or letter from home, to the next year’s live-in students. I, Anne Louis Williams, leave to the class of 1980 my ability to (?) spel (?) so well and to give Anatomy lessons before and after study hours. 13 CHRISTMAS 14 CONVENTION 16 ANGELS OF MERCY BITS AND PIECES His ’n’ Her Hair Care Center Eastville, Virginia Parks Motor Co., Inc.
