It was discovered later on that Mrs. Smith s saying First impressions are lasting” really is not true, as we found in a few weeks that the ones we disliked the most at first turned out to be our beat friends. After getting acquainted introducing ourselves and talking half the night we finally settled down (some of us crying ourse¬ lves to sleep) for a short nap. On Monday morning September l , 1970 we sleepily got up went and ate breakfast, then came back to the dorm, sat around and talked while the ’’live out” students reg¬ istered, At 8:30 we all assembled in the classroom where we were introduced to the instructors. This is where we learned that things weren’t going to be as easy as we had thought as Mrs. Guy read to us the Rules and Regulations. But as time went on we adjusted, even though some of us seemed to forget a few of the rules. (That ' s Life) In October we received our uniforms, and really began to feel like nurses. We held our first Bingo Party on October 23 as our first class project to raise money. At last we got a few days off in Nov. for Thanksgiving after three months of hard studying and adjusting. We all came back Dec. 1 and again started classes Dec.2. We all had fun selling chances on the Smithfield ham during Dec. On December 23, we had our Christmas party. On Wenesday Dec. 16, we were invited to the LPN’S Christmas party where we all had a good time. We returned from Christmas vacation Jan. 4, once again to start studying. On jJan, 6 we had our first real experience as nurses in a hospital. As time progressed and we progressed class time became shorter and we stayed on uty longer. We started thinking of Capping and pract¬ icing singing. Mrs. Lewis began to think we would never learn the songs. At last Feb. 19 came, something we had dreamed of for six months. We received our caps after hearing the address from ? After Mrs. Lewis called our names Mrs. Guy pinned on our cap then we proudly stepped oyer to Mrs. Smith for her to light the candle held in our Florence Nightengales’ lamp. After Capping excercise we reception given by district 11 LPN Association. On Monday Feb. 22 we all went on duty in our full uniform for the first time. Oh, how proud we werel On returning to school we started looking to summer as it brought dreams of graduations! the ey 32 Sue Wheatl Patrons Mrs. Madeline C.
