S., broke the county record for the mile, run- ning the distance in 4 minutes, 53.4 seconds. This year, as a Cobleskill Aggie, Frank is maintaining that fine record which he estab- lished at S. C. S. At State School Frank broke his own record, running the mile in four min- utes, 47 seconds. At a cross-country meet Frank secured a trophy as one of the Eastern State junior Champions. Diamond Wray .SOCCQIG Our soccer team got off to a slow start with two losses, one to Duanesburg and the other to Middleburgh. Although Middleburgh did take a victory, Schoharie played a good defensive game, holding the Middies to only four points. Schoharie perked up in the middle of the season, taking two games from Gilboa and Sharon, giving the Injuns a two for two record. Barton, captain of the Injun team, led the warriors to the Sharon massacre. Next the Cobleskill Devils met us on our home field and in a close battle defeated us by one goal. We played our last game with Berne-Knox and encountered our fourth defeat. Lynn Manz racked up some goals to make him top scorer of the season. The fellows had not played much together be- fore, which accounts for our slow season. We met our first defeat at Canaioharie. Although about half of the squad hadn't seen action before, we managed to score a touchdown. In our next game, played on Injun soil, we held the fighting Draper j.V.s to no points and scored a touchdown and the extra point for ourselves. In our next four games we met defeat, but the experience gained will prove a great benefit for the coming seasons. Although we had a bad season this year, we can be proud of our boys-for we have the only team in the county. Our basketball season is really something to be proud of. We started the season rather slowly, losing to Berne-Knox. Then we started going, We edged the Guardians of the Reservoir, Gilboa, by four points in an overtime game. Our next victims were the Tigers of Richmondville. Here Neil Eastman racked up 15 points for high man. Sharon melted in the Schoharie hand with Captain Spike Barton scoring 24 points. The Middies of Middleburgh gave in to Schoharie at the third quarter. Manz saw a good night with 25 points, making him high man. Next the Eagles-Duanesburg gave us a close call by tasting a defeat of only one point. Although Mahar had 19 points in this game, two points by Simpson clinched the game. Our boys were victorious in the second games over Gilboa, Richmondville, Sharon, Middleburgh, but lost hard fought battles to Berne-Knox, Duanesburg and jefferson.
