Our band under the able direction of Mr. Donald Menz has again received a 6-A rating at the New York sectionals this year. This is the second time that they have received this highest pos- sible rating according to standards set by the New York State Music Association. Schoharie Central School Band has the distinc- tion of being the only band with this rating in Schoharie County. There are 52 members in the band this year. Twenty-one of these members took part in the County Music Festival at Coble- skill Central School. Gene Sellick, Cale Furman, Lawrence Becker. Elizabeth Borst and Richard Polgreen participated in the state sectionals held at Saratoga this year. Cale Furman has been ac- cepted by audition into the state band which is meeting at Albany. So far this year the band has participated in several parades and in the future plans to play for a number of organizations. Besides striving to maintain their high rating musicwise. the group is also working at becoming a better marching band. The Yearbook Staff wishes to heartily congratulate Mr. lVlenz and the band members for bringing this musical recognition to our school. Front Row, left to right: Flutes - M. Cilberti, H.
