Wanna acdelfg 7752 S9 EILEENE SHAVER ARL RP- E The aim of the National Honor Society IS to make good citizenship in high schools a matter of dis tinction On the selective basis of leadership service scholarship and character many different types of students are awarded a place in the National Honor Society Of the four criteria only scholarship can be considered exclusive in its effects A Senior must have eamed an 85010 average before he can be evaluated in terms of the other three criteria The faculty at tempts to evaluate objectively every Senior who has earned this average in the attributes of service leadership and character Some of the traits of character that are considered are 1 Meets individual pledges and responst bilities promptlyto school and teachers 2 Demonstrates highest standards of attitude toward honesty and reliability 3 Constantly demonstrates desirable qualities of personality fcheerfulness friendliness neatness poise stability, 4 Cooperates by complying with school regulations 5 Upholds principles of morality and ethics Indication of leadership 1 Demonstrates leadership in classroom or homeroom 2 Demonstrates leadershipin promoting school activities- 3 Successfully holds school offices or positions of responsibility- 4 Contributes ideas which improve civic life of the school- 5. Exerts type of leadership which directly influences others for good. Service is evaluated in terms of the following l. Willingness to render any service to the school when called upon- 2 Willingness to do committee or staff work- 3. Readiness to show courtesy by assisting teachers visitors and students. Obviously members ofthis Society are well rounded individuals. It is conceivable that boys and girls who are notable in scholarship leadership service and character should in their time make our America in reality and in truth - America the Beautiful!
