Nalzbnal Honor foczkly JOHN FERO FLOYD GUERNSEY EVELYN GAIGE HELEN MARSHALL JOHN PRYOR RES SADDLEMIRE N order to stimulate an interest in scholarship throughout the high schools of the United States, the National Honor Society was organized in 1922. In order to qualify for membership a student must first of all rank scholastically in the upper third of his class. Other qualities next considered are leadership, character, and service to the school. On this basis fifteen percent of the graduating class are selected each year by the faculty. At the special high school assembly held each spring, announcement is made of the new members of the Honor Society. Graduate members are invited to take part in the impressive ceremony in which these seniors are tapped and presented with their membership pins. Since 1941 when the Schoharie chapter of the National Honor Society received its charter, fifty students have been granted the privilege of wearing its emblem. 12
