SOCIAL ITEMS OF INTEREST TO THE COMMUNITY Miss Ellen Bouck has resigned her positlon as private secre tary to the law firm of Andrews and Schwalbe After a two week trip to Miami, and Palm Beach, Florida, Miss Bouck will be em ployed as head book keeper at the Livingston Chicken Farm in Central Bridge Miss Phyllis Getter, who was recently graduated from 'The Chicago Training School For Airline Postess'sW, was a guest of frlends ln Schoharie over the weekend Miss Getter has accepted a position at the Es perance Skyhaven Airlines Miss Getter will be on the daily plane for New York The managers of the ultra mo dern 'Drive Inn on the Middle nounced that Miss Bea Young has accepted the position of chief ticket seller Miss Young was formerly employed by the Cap ital theater in New York City Miss Young will begin her duty the first of June when the thea- ter expects to open Mr and Mrs James Propervisited their parents, Mr and Mrs J Howard Proper and Mr and Mrs Harold Gatens recently Mr and Mrs Proper left Monday for New York City where they will see the Brooklyn 'Dodgersn play It was just announced that Mrs Proper has purchased a half in terest in the team Mr Proper has been manager of the Dodger team for three years Little Patsy and Jimmy will spend the summer with their grandparents in Schoharie Little Donna Larkin recently celebrated her seventh birthday by giving a party for her young friends Among those present were Irene Brown, Ginnie Hunter Jeanne Vroman, and Trudy Mann ing Shopn has reopened Miss Bray has just returned from several weeks in New York Miss Carol Ehrcke arrived in Schoharie yesterday to spend several weeks at her summer home here ROTARY CLUB NEWS At this weeks meeting f the Schoharie Rotary Club the guest speaker will be Miss Joyce Ann Miers, formerly of Esperance Miss Miers has just returned from South America where she was in charge of a school for physicallv handicapped children Miss Miers is on a lecture tour through the United States in order to raise money which will enable her to return to South America and continue her work in this field Miss Miers has had experiences with this sort of work all over the United States and Europe Guests at last weeks meeting were two returned sailors, S!Sc Kenneth Hiller and Midshipmen Harold UDukeyN Holt These two fellows have Just returned from the Panama Canal Zone They had many interesting andamusing exploits to relate AROUND THE TOWN Not much new in town this week but the opening of Bobby Fain's swell orchestra at the WSchoh arie Housen That Fain boy has come a long way since his high school days when he was playing first trumpet in the school band I think that hi girl singer L1z Martin has got what it takes to go places in show business Gene Vroman has one nice place, too It'5 quite the place to spend an evening We hear that there might be a marriage between two of our local merchant's in the near future With a corset shop and a beauty shop in the same house it should all come out with all concerned happy As I said not much is going on this week, so that's all Y bllfgh-SCh0h81'i9 road YIHVS an- Miss Blanche Bray's Slim Smil- o
