M Y r Q ,, SUNDA STFIAIT Crew, man the rails during memorial ceremonies in the Java Sea commemorating the sinking of the USS HOUSTON and the HIVIAS PE RTH. The two Cruisers had been sunk on February 28, 1942, not far from the location of the ceremony. The ships taking part in the ceremony are part of Antisubmarine Warfare Group Three attached to the U.S. Seventh Fleet. They are formed up in the shape of a cross and are lfrom left to rightl: the USS BRONSTEIN lDE-1037l, USS IVIEYERKORD l DE-1058l, USS TICONDEROGA lCVS-l4l, USS SCHOFIELD lDEG-3l and USS JOHN S. IVICCAIN lDDG-36l. Rear Admiral James C. Longino, Commander Antisubmarine Warfare Group Three, opened the ceremony with a narrative of the Sunda Strait Battle which was an honor salute by the lVIarine Honor guard.
