The Summit Published by the Senior Class Schlarman High School Danville, Illinois A si.i X X K 2 Page 2 Foreword Mindful of the future of our school, whose years are in the beginning, we think of the students whose years will be those of attainment. Since accomplishments are the fruits of activity, let us learn to do by doing, doing those things that will make the kind of future citizens an atomic world needs. Our training is one for adult life, life dominated by Christian prin- ciples inculcated and practiced during four formative years. The object of the second volume of The Summit is to show pictorially those opportunities that Schlarman offers to high school students, not in just one essential of life, but all-physical, social, intellectual, and spirit- ual. With this potential training for all in mind, the seniors of the Summit staff wish to express a prayerful hope that all students in Danville and environs will utilize the opportunity of Catholic education that is theirs -for the asking. In parting, we beg the lower classmen and the future students of Schlar- man to love their school, to absorb her spirit, and to help her realize her dreams-a militant Catholic laity. Dedication To God's Mother, Our Lady of Grace, we dedicate this second volume of The Summit. We complement the dedication with the petition that, as the Mediatrix of all grace, Our Lady will lead us on daily to participation in the Divine Nature that comes through a life lived close to Jesus through Mary.
