While the peppy water carriers Come running with their pails. From this day forward the Student Board will represent true student gov- ernment. For the first time in the four years that the seniors have spent in Schenley, students have taken the responsibility of self-government upon their own shoulders. We are at last attempting to put into practice the spirit of democracy we have always possessed, but have never exercised. The capable officers of the Student Board were elected by popular vote after nomination by the Board. An executive board was composed of one member from each grade group in the association. Since these new officers have been inaugurated, they have conducted our morning assemblies with able executive skill. The Bible is read by the president, who then leads the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag and the Star Spangled Banner. The bulletin has been read by the vice-president, who then turns the meeting over to' the person who is in charge of the program. At the beginning of the semester, a pledge was signed by the majority of the student body to support this student government by exercising self- discipline. The red, green, and white I Support It tags were worn proudly by Schenleyites. Then, too, the school, as a whole, was brought into closer union by the Student Board dance, which was held for members of all classes. Cooperation has been the keynote to the success of our student organiza- tion this year. The Student Board has accomplished its purpose, for each member of the student body is inspired with the will to carry on selfgovern- ment, long after the seniors have gone forth to serve. 1 Y l V t P T L lil L - -T, I U t x . y ,, . y I. 0 1, ,t 1, T 0' C A , 4 V , . - nf' ' H h -- , x zu f ' 2 ' I Y C X fl Q' 'NK 1' N '- l l l f K , -xx . 3 ,f f ' - N .
