Japan to backload Marine Battalion 2!9. The twenty second of November found SCHENECTADY again in Okinawa at Kin Red Beach, offloading Marine Battalion 2X9 and backloading Marine Battalion 1f9. The twenty sixth of November SCHENECTADY proceeded to Orawan Bay to backload LVTs and conduct LVT Operations at Kin Blue Beach. After offloading LVTs on the same day and backloading ten Battalion 119 LVTs SCHENECTADY proceeded into White Beach, Okinawa to spend the Thanksgiving Holidays. The twenty eighth of November concluded the holidays and SCHENECTADY was again underway for Subic Bay where nine days of upkeep were spent. Following the upkeep period SCHENECTADY returned to Numazu, Japan to offload Marine Bat- talion 1!9. While enroute to Numazu SCHENECTADY made a short stop in Orawan Bay to offload the battalion's LVTs. SCHENECTADY arrived at Numazu on the sixteenth of December and offloaded the Marine battalion. After offloading the Marines SCHENECTADY was underway for Beppu, Japan and her first Port Visit of the cruise. The ship remained anchored until the twenty second of December at which time it was underway for Sasebo, Japan. SCHENECTADY remained in Sasebo through the thirteenth of January during which time upkeep was taking place. Rear Ad- miral Collins, Commander Logistics Support Group Seventh Fleet also paid a visit to the SCHENECTADY during this period. On the twelfth of January an opportune lift of office furniture and equipment was made for COMSERVGRU 3. At the end of her upkeep period SCHENECTADY was visited by Vice Admiral Car- mondy, Inspector General. SCHENECTADY departed for Iwakuni, Japan on the fifteenth of January to make an opportune lift. Once SCHENECTADY was beached at Iwakuni the ,twenty five vehicles of the opportune life were loaded. From there it was on to White Beach, Okinawa to offloai the vehicles. SCHENECTADY was underway the eighteenth of J ar .uary for Keelung, Taiwan where her second port visit was to take place. The ship remained anchored at Keelung through the twenty fourth. On the twenty fourth the ship was underway for Subic Bay to offload the office furniture she had previouly picked up and opportune lift. p arrived in Subic Bay the -'of January and also received its new officer, LCDR Pauling, that The twenty eighth of January SCHENECTADY was enroute to Numazu, Japan to backload Battalion 1!9. During that transit the ship went to general quarters and conducted Damage Control Drills and test fired the gun mounts. SCHENECTADY beached the second of February at Numazu and backloaded Battalion 1!9. Later the same day SCHENECTADY was underway and headed for Guam. The ship arrived in Guam the seventh of February and moored at the fuel pier and refueled after which berths were switched. A short transit was made to the Island of Tinian on the ninth. The following day the ship was un- derway to conduct LVT operations and conduct a UDT beach survey. This was part of a rehearsal for Quick J ab IV. On the eleventh Quick Jab IV as well as a Raidex were conducted. From the eleventh to the fifteenth the SCHENECTADY was moored at Tinian. During this time the ship's company conducted the Quick Jab IV Civic action project. On the fifteenth of February SCHENECTADY made a transit back to Guam to begin another upkeep period. This upkeep lasted until the twenty fifth of February.

Cruise Chronology The fourth of October 1975 saw the end of reparations and the commencement of Cl-lENECTADY'S West Pac Deployment. The mor- ug of the fourth, SCHENECTADY got underway .in Pier 10 San Diego Naval Station enroute to earl Harbor, Hawaii. Sailing in company with VHENECTADY were the U.S.S. JUNEAU, .S.S. STERETT, U.S.S. ST. LOIUS, U.S.S. EIISTOL COUNTY, U.S.S. ALAMO, and the S.S. CAYUGA. After a brief five day stop in Pearl Harbor for ,ioading Marines and a predeployment conference . the tenth of October it was on to Kwajelein. After viving at Kwajelein on the twenty first of October, xr house trailers were loaded as part of an oppor- lie life. Once the trailers were loaded the 'HENECTADY got underway for Subic Bay, Republic of the Phillipines. While underway SCHENECTADY conducted back to back unreps with the U.S.S. MARS for stores and with the U.S.S. PASSUMPSIC for fuel. SCHENECTADY arrived at Subic Bay the thrity first of October. While in Subic the ship loaded ten Marines and seven vehicles for an opportune lift to Okinawa. The second of October SCHENECTADY was underway again, this time for White Beach, Okinawa. The destination was reached on the fifth of November at which time LVT Operations commenced. Also while in Okinawa the ship was inspected by Admiral Whitmire from CTF-6. His comments following the inspection were very favorable. On the ninth of November SCHENECTADY was headed for Yokosuka, Japan and her first scheduled upkeep period. The the eighth SCHZENECTADY was un- Bhy. On the tenth of March while enroute to 331533 BGS SCHENECTADY underwent -under way, replenishment with the U.S.S. SAN JOSE. SCHENECTADY began another upkeep period on its arrival in Subic Bay on the tenth. On the fifteenth of March SCHENECTADY was underway for Maulex 3-76fSugod III Z-1AA Gun Sheet. From the fifteenth until the twentyfirst of March SCHENECTADY participated in a res- marilex with the U.S.S. ALAMO, U.S.S. JUNEAU, U.S.S. CAYUGA, and three Phillipine Naval Vessels On the seventeenth of March the Z-40-G Gun shoot toni. place. On the twenty first and twenty second of March SCHENECTADY was in port at Riviera Pier in Suhie Bay for upkeep. The twenty fifth of March SCHENECTADY was underway to Hong Kong for a port visit. SCHENECTADY arrived in Hong Kong the twenty fifth and remained there until the thirtieth. On the thirtieth of March SCHENECTADY was underway to Orawan, Okinawa. LVTS were offloaded there on the second of April. On the same day a Marine Corps Engineering Platoon was onloaded at Kin Red Ramp. derw-fly I . V derway for BLT 1f9. Later on the same in transit to Iwakuni, Japan. moored at Iwakuni the seventh April during which time another onloaded. V Once the opportune lift was loaded the underway again for a return trip to Okinawa. The ninth through the eleventh of April were spent 11114 derway. On the eleventh SCHENECTADY moored O' at Kin Red and offloaded its opportune lift. After the offloading of the opportune lift was complete the ship was headed for Sasebo, Japan for upkeep and to unload another opportune lift. On the twenty fifth of April the SCHENECTADY was enroute to Inchon, Korea. The ship arrived there the twenty seventh and remained there until the second of May. This was for a port visit as well as to load Marines. The fourth through the seventh of May were spent at Kin Red. During this time Marines were offloaded and Marine Retrograde loaded. On the seventh of May SCHENECTADY began its transit home by heading to Pearl Harbor. The ship arrived in Pearl Harbor on the nineteenth and remained there until the twenty fifth of May.
