Schaumburg wanted tradition and we got it! The 1973 Student Council, in spite of campaign promises, moved in the same slow circles as it had done since it was initiated. Presi- dent Frank Halatek served in office until second semester. At that time he resigned and Laura Hoerich as- sumed the reign. Karen Connell won the position of vice-president but it was too late to save the year. Students of Schaumburg wondered if they would ever elect a president to serve a full term. We might never know! Next year there will be no student council as such but rather a Principal's Advisory Board and stu- dent involvement groups. Amidst student power plays and arguing over rules of order, no real sense of accomplishment was felt by the few devoted representatives. Many re- signed and apathy became a motto.
