School Board News Announces Schalmont's Plan to Host Foreign Student. There is abundant evidence available from participating schools to show that the Foreign Exchange Student Program holds promise of many potential benefits for the students, the school, the community and, less tangibly, the relationships among nations. The class of 1961 at Schalmont has been granted permission by the Board of Education to continue developing plans for participation in the program during the school year 1960-61. Raising the required $650.00 will be a major project of the class during the current year. The class will keep the community informed of progress made in arrangements and plans for the fund-raising activities which may include the sale of one dollar shares throughout the district. The whole senior class bequeaths the honors, privileges and wonderful time of being a senior at Schalmont to the Class of 1961. Class Prophecy It is 1970, just ten years after the graduation of the class of 1960, and ten alumni are gathered in the cafeteria for the first class re- union. We sit quietly discussing what has happened to us since our last meeting ten years ago. SHARON LA JUETT is an acrobat with a cir- cus, CAROL MAHAR is an executive secretary and ELLEN MASON is a housewife now. MARCIA and ARDETH DEAY, and KAREN BARKLEY are all teachers here at Schalmont, and JIM CORNELL is Mohonasen's football coach. DENNIS LOCKE, ALBERT MALINOWSKI, and DAN MASTERPOLO, are all vice-presidents of the General Electric Company. The talking quickly ebbs and everyone is ready to go home when the airport's limousine comes up the school drive; JOE LEONARDO steps out and explains that he is now the general manager of the airport and that SALLY NICHOLAS and BOB ROGALSKI, the producer and co-producer of the forthcoming spectacular Siberia, now being filmed in Hawaii, have invited the eleven of us to come to see them on location for two days as their guests. After we have arrived at the airport and are settled in our chartered jet plane, BOB SUTTON and JOHN CREAR our stewards greet us, and tell us that none other than GLORIA SNARE and MARILYN VEDDER are our pilot and co-pilot, and that FRANK JASON is our trusty navi- gator. The only stop over is in Kansas City, where ANDY HADLEY joins our party, Andy tells us that he is now the chief engineer for Auto- mobiles Limited, and that he has finally solved the problem of whether to put the car's motor in the front or the rear. They don't put one in at all! When we arrive in Hawaii we are greeted by the Presidents of M-G-M, MARCELLA, GUAGLIARDO, and MURAWSKI. As they take us to the Hotel Alaska, we are told that we may meet a few friends who are working on the picture. The desk clerk is SANDY SENS, and she tells us that FRED SCHAIBLE, CAROL POLLOCK and FAY VANDERZEE are the joint owners of the hotel. Tired from our trip we all go to bed early but we decide to rise early so we can see the sights in the morning. Next morning breakfast was served to us by the hotel chef who was none other than JULIA NEWBERRY. LYNN JOHN, the hotel manager, came down to greet us. We first went over to the location to see the filming of the picture. The director of the film was none other than MIKE KARL whose assistant MAUREEN LEGERE was so busy that she could only wave to us but couldn't stop to say hello. Mike told us to wander around and see what was happening; as we started out who should we meet but RONNIE GOFF, who is the colum- nist that now writes the Voice of Broadway, who had come down with the famous movie critics CINDY MULYCA, and PAT KWIATKOWSKI. They were in Hawaii to see the previews of the picture. Next we meet LOIS BRINKMAN the films leading lady who was having her makeup put on by AL DREVES. The head of costumes. HENRY KNOTEK came rushing up to us with the leading man's costume. Henry said he would be glad to take us to see the leading star wno was none other than MARSHALL CRAWFORD, Broadway's matinee idol. It was then lunch time so we went to the commissary where we met the chief cook and bottle washers JULIa CHAPMAN and BRUCE HAWKS, EDDIE DUSSAULT was the cashier, who lives on the beach and invited us to stop by and see him tomorrow, since it was his day off. JIMMY ALFREE, the playwright who had adopted the movie Siberia from DANNY and ANTHONY BUCCI’s book, South Pacific, in- vited us to eat lunch at his table. While talking with him we discovered that PAT THOMPSON, LUCY KAZLAUSKAS and JIM McCLAINE were the co-stars. SANDRA KINGSLEY stopped by our table to say hello and told us that she was the stunt man for the show. After lunch we went to visit JERRY McCLAINE's Hula Skirt Factory were we saw LINDA MCKEON and FRANK FARINA, modeling two grass skirts. We left the factory at suppertime; since we were a great distance from the hotel we stopped in for a bite to eat at BARBARA BROWN'S Hungarian, Swedish Restaurant where we all had a delicious Japanese dinner while we listened to the music of GERALDINECUOCO's All Rubber Band featuring PHYLLIS MELIDEO on drums, LEORA MERCOGLAN on guitar and WALTER MULYCA as the soprano vocalist. We left the restaurant quite late and hailed two cabs; one driven by CAROL accident PLOMINSKI and the other by BERNICE The Turtle CZYZEWSKI. After a good nights sleep we decided to take a grand tour of the island. We were surpised to discover that our guide was to be KATHY WEATHERWAX. We asked Kathy to take us to the beach so we could see Eddie Dussault once again. When we arrived there we found that Eddie lived in a Beachcombers settlement headed by JOHN TROWBRIDGE, PETE VAN HOESEN and MARTY TRAVIS. As we started to leave we met JIM SIMONDS and JOYCE SHEFFEL who said that they also were members of the settlement. Next we decided to visit JOHN BRADSHAW'S Real Italian Pizza Parlor for a snack. There we met JAMES CARAFANO and KATHY ELLERS, the famous beatnik poets arguing over like who did the least work in their life . We then went window shopping and met MICHAEL CIPRIANO and his wife DIANA DENNY who were on the island as guests of ANN CIVALIER and KARLA DENNER on their cocoanut farm. While window shopping we decided to buy some souvenirs, and went into MAXINE COUNTERMINE'S Hawaiian Souvenir Shop where we bought some Japanese lanterns made in America. We then went back to the picture location where we met DAVE HASTINGS, the ballad singer who sang the title song in the picture, Siberia . With him were his three accompanists, JUDY DUELL and GERALDINE FAVATA, guitarists and PATRICIA ISABELLA on drums. As we talked with Dave we noticed some artists painting tropical scenery for the picture. We went over to meet them and almost fell through the floor when we saw that it was none other than DAN FIORILLO, RAYMOND FLOWER and PAT VROOMAN. All were under the guidance of AGNES GEDDES, the art director. We heard a plane overhead and looked up just in time to see ROBERT STOCK, the stuntman, teaching JANET SMITH how to commit suicide from an airplane. We were told that the plane was piloted by PETER NEFF. By then, it was quite late so we went back to our hotel. Upon our arrival we found an invitation to a beach party to be held at the mountain top home of JANIS NICKLAW and WILLIAM THIEL. When we got there we discovered that our entire graduating class was present, including DONALD VAN BUMBLE, Cuba's new leader, RICHARD TRIEBLE, the Vice-President of the United States. DIANA PIKCILINGIS, President of Diana's Pickle Company, SANDRA PASQUARELLA, the playwright of My Fair Larceny , HARRIET NOWAK, our Ambassador to Tenbucktwo, and MICHAEL PAGNOTTA and JUDY LICHVA the pilots of the oceanliner Titanic, in which we were to make our return journey home to Schenectady, just in time to see the class of 1970 graduate.
