SENIOR DEAN Dear Members of the Senior Class, I have enjoyed my first year at Schalmont High School for many reasons, one of the most important being my pleasant association with you. As I review this past year, many happy memories come to mind - your capacity for fun, but also for hard work; your willingness to help each other and to work together; your realization that you must plan for the future; your many thoughtful kindnesses to me. Your school is very proud of you; as the first senior class to graduate from the new high school, you have set a fine pattern for future senior classes to follow. For each of you, I wish a life rich in enduring satisfactions. Sincerely yours,
”

AS WE WILL IT, SO SHALL IT BE According to tradition, each Senior Class bequeaths to its successors, titles, characteristics, and possessions belonging to fellow classmates. Let us take a last look at these qualities before they are passed on to their proud new owners in the class of 1959. We blow away the dust and open our Treasure Chest of fond memories. Although our more tangible possessions are passed on to the class of '59, we can not bequeath our fond memories that go along with having been Seniors. The first objects in the treasure chest are two golden keys to fit the doors of spacious wardrobe closets. These have been the possessions of Loreley Borst and David Fries, and are now being willed to DIANE SIMONE and BRIAN MASTERPOLO. There is a pair of sneakers and a basketball rulebook which belonged to Tommy Bowe. We hope that CHARLIE FALCIGNO can successfully fill his shoes on the court. A megaphone recalls the spirited cheerleading of Pat Clancy. It shall belong hereafter to MARY ELLEN ERSCHEN. A package of razor blades neatly wrapped and beribboned was once owned by Barry Taylor. He be- queaths them to VICTOR DEHAVEN with his best wishes. A gavel calls to mind the executive ability of Gary Phillips. This he leaves with all its headaches to the next Senior Class President. A dictionary (collegiate copy) which was once owned by Greer Rood, is being passed on to BOB WATROUS who will no doubt make good use of it. A mirror sends back the reflection of Charlie Vedder's and Lois Johnson's good looks. The tag reads to CHUCK DUCKWALD and JANICE COONS to be worn with a smile. Lois also wills the thoughts of a long distance friend with a box of scented writing paper to LINDA CONGER. Edna Smith is willing to give up her Secretary's notebook and her piggyback refills to SANDY GEIER, and Agnes Lewis leaves her full, full skirts to PAT LAIR who has quite a few of her own. Since Ellen Hoehn has by now received her driving license, she can hardly wait to give up her per- mit. This she leaves to KRIS NEFF with lots of luck. Gerry Kugler leaves the keys to his hot” '51 Ford lying in the bottom of our treasure chest. He be- queaths them (though not really) to FRED TABER who drives a Ford of his own. We still have many qualities to leave which cannot be represented by material things. One such quality is the shyness of Sharlene Burke and Eddie Kazlauskas. This is quietly willed to ELSIE COOPER and LARRY DOUGLAS. To MIKE KNEFLEY is bequeathed some of Nooly Vedder's charm and flirtatious style. Nooly refuses to give it all up though, for he claims he may need it in the future. The petite stature of Joyce Herodes is bestowed upon JEAN O’BRAY and Bob Duchesne regretfully leaves his Service Squad Post to LINDA BRADSHAW who will make sure that the rules and regulations are faithfully adhered to.
