All the Wag When the volleyball program was started at Schaller nobody ever imagined that in only four short years we would produce a state qualifying team-but we did. Practices started a week before school and at this time a goal was set. This goal was to reach the state tournae ment after falling one match short for the last two years. Hard work paid off and the girls lost only two matches during the regular season. These losses were both to Newell which cost us the conference title. The Rockettes were also entered in the Lytton Tournament which they won. Taking one match at a time, the girls became Sectional champs and had earned their way into Dis' tricts. With a lot of teamwork and crowd support the girls defeated Storm Lake in 3 games to become District champs and gained a berth in the State Tournament. The Ricikettes had a tough time at State being matched against the number one team in the state. Even though they didn't win any games, the experience is one they will never forget. We will be losing 3 seniors, Tracey Van Buskirk, Jonie Waters, and Diane Wendel, but have many underclassmen with experience. Post season all- conference honors went to Tracey VanBuskirk, Jonie Waters, Diane Wendel, Kathy Brenner, Brenda Kenny, and Sandy Manteufel. Tracey, Jonie, and Sandy also gained state honors. Jr. Varsity . . Looking Good The Jr. Varsity volleyball is looking good for the future by finishing the season with a 9-2 record. The J .V. are carrying on the tradition of Schaller volleyball with wins in all conference matches except one. These girls show promise for the future and will be the nucleus of the varsity in years to come. The J.V. gave much needed support to the varsity and rode the bus to cheer them on at State.
