Rockettes Make It To Districts Under a new coach, Lori Gries, the girls softball team ended with an 11-8 record. The highlight of the year was defeating Storm Lake 15-5 after losing earlier in the season by a score of 9-10. The Rockettes again beat them in the Sectional tournament 7-2 to earn their way to the Sectional finals. They played a tough St. Mary's team and lost 0-2 but advanced to Districts in spite of the loss. Here they were defeated by the state qualifying team of Albert City-Trues- dale in the 1st round. ln losing only one senior, Deb Wen- del, there are hopes for a better season next year. Four girls were selected to the All-conference team these beingg Deb Wendel, Tracey VanBuskirk, Diane Wendel, and Nita Skou. Deb and Nita also gained all-area honors. That record was good enough for a Bo-Coon Conference championship and a perfect 8-0 conference season. That record also boasts a state sectional win. Schaller also placed several players on the All-conference team: Dale Wiese, Mike O'Meara, Randy Man- teufel - lst team, Mitch Wilde, Doug Ayers - 2nd team, Kelly Burhop - honorable mention. With many young Rockets gain- ing experience and in losing only two seniors, the boys will set out next year to defend their conference title. ..
