Choir Performs Once again the vocal music depart- ment demonstrated their fine musical abilities, and always gave their audiv ences a treat. It was a busy year, each music group working to ready themselves for each concert and later contest, But l the hard work paid off, providing for a delightful Girls Glee Tea, Christmas Concert, Pop's Concert, and other i annual performances. Small groups began to come togeth- er, and rehearsals meant early morn- ing risings, and constant practicing. And at small group contest, many good ratings were given. e , , - , g Next we prepared for large group A i4 1 contest, which required much hard work and determination. The gym is filled with people and there is excitement in the air. As the lights dim, we hear On top of old Smoky . The Swing Choir opens the 1980 Big Show singing 'let Me Share My Music With You . Songs, skits, and a slide show all center around the theme Americana , Months of preparation led up to this night- 7:00 a.m. rehearsals, after-school painting and set-building, last-minute trips for sound equipment, writing arrange- ments, coordinating the stage crew, sound crew, and light crew. The show was divided into four parts-collage, Love Ameri- can Style, Country Western, and an American Salute. High- lights were a visit form Johnny Carson's Carnak the Magni- ficent C Trucknak l, circus clowns C Send in the Clowns l, the Gambler , the Jazz Band performing at intermission, the Hee-Haw skit, the little people, the song t'Stilll', Ever- ybody Hears a Different Drummer performed by the Swing Choir with strobe lights, and the slide show on Amer- ica, American Trilogy , accompanied by Swing Choir. It was a great evening of entertainment and a great success. I N . I 1
