She gives her grim housekeeper the day off, and the deluge begins: a fast talking seller of booksg a woman peddling gaudy wax flow- ersg an agent with a broken Sweeper, and pam- phlet on how to sell itg a determined lady dem- onstrating curlersg a woman who sells a power- ful vacuum cleaner with the help of a still more powerful voiceg and a photographer who's de- termined to take a picture of the harried Maya- belle, curlers, book, and all. The agents come but they wonlt go, and the fun gets funnier until the grim housekeeper strides in and settles things. THE STORM Jeff Mulkey stands at his cabin window and peers out at the blizzard. Five years ago he was involved in an auto accident on a snow swept highway - an accident that took the lives of a mother and her daughter. Since then, each storm brings back to reality the mishap. That's why Jeff moved, with his wife Mary, to this cabin in the mountains, far away from people. Now, as the blizzard rages, there's a rap on the door. A man enters, says he was hunting and got lost. He tells them the story of a man who had a wife and daughter. They couldn't get along, so she took the child and left. Finally, she started back to him, had an accident in a snow storm and she and the daughter were killed. When the husband got word a couple of years later he swore revenge - said he'd get the man that did it if he had to track him across half the world. All-School Play THE REMARKABLE INCIDENT AT CARSON COR- NERS There is no scenery. Except for a few chairs, there are no props. Late comers in the audience are invited to come up and sit on the stage, which they do. Their smiles broaden as the students start what appears to be a mock trial. A few months ago, a student fell to his death from the school fire escape - or perhaps he was pushed. The purpose of the mock trial is to fix the responsibility. Now the proceedings no longer seem funny. One revelation forces the next and soon the entire community finds itself involved: the doctor who didn't think the emergency call was serious, a druggist who moved the boy's body aggravating his injury, the politician who thought that appropriations for a safer school building could wait. Several vainly attempt to stop this mock trial, but it continues and tension builds. Then the father of the dead boy reveals that he, too, is responsible.
