E' 7957 Considerable success was enjoyed by this year's baseball team as they copped the Popcorn Loop championship with a three win no loss record. Thompson and Wiese did most of the pitching for the Rockets, tossing several near no hitters. The season 's record was 9-2, with Lake View handing the team the only regular season loss The team was unable to play a single home game because of difficulties experienced by the new construction taking place in center field. The only other loss was a 5-0 shut-out at the hands of Greenville-Rossie in the opening round of the sub state toumey at Paullina . The team won the sectional and district meets at Washta, defeating Kingsley 12-2 Cushing 3-1, and Grand Meadow 7-4 in the sectional. Hinton fell 6-5 and Smithland 1-0 in the District. Three seniors were on the team: Don Thompson, Paul Wiese and Dick Waterbury. The track team competed in relay meets at Holstein, Sac City CBO-Popp, Cherokee, Sac City fSac Relaysj, Alta, Aurelia and Holstein fDistrictJ. Dick Waterbury and Terry Markley qualified and repre- sented Schaller at the State meet at Des Moines. Letter winners were Dick Waterbury, Jay Murray, Terry Markley. -'s The Rockettes played 9 games, winning 7. Pitching was by Gwen Andresen, with Carol Fitzsenry her battery mate. The girls reached the finals of the sectional. This year the Girls' Athletic Union sponsored a summer campaign for the girls and Schaller was able to keep its team intact for the off-year go. Scores follow: Games won, Truesdale 28-5: Aurelia 18-105 Battle Creek 7-65 Aurelia 32-14g Sulphur Springs 38-9g Sectional, Plover 16-Og Havelock 21-2. Games lost: Palmer 9-133 Sectional, Palmer 1-10. FIRST ROW: Janice Pyle, Connie Rosdail, Gwen Andresen, Carol Waterbury, Jean Rasmussen, Judy Howard, Barbara Barrett.
